Catwoman has a more creative way of fighting than most comic book characters, unafraid of thinking outside the box or skirting a losing battle. Regardless of who bears the name, whether it’s Selina Kyle or the Batman Beyond version of Catwoman, the rogue is always quick to pull a dirty trick if it means winning or making a quick escape. Getting away can be just as important as taking down an opponent.

Over the years, Catwoman has found herself in countless predicaments. She has gone up against a variety of anti-heroes and villains, as well as some of DC’s greatest superheroes. Some of her victories may sound unbelievable, but that’s simply because Selina Kyle is brilliant at redefining what makes a win.

10 Batman Beyond is Outclassed By a Futuristic Catwoman

Batman Beyond #2

In a not-so-distant future, Bruce Wayne is forced to retire, putting the young Terry McGinnis in his place. While McGinnis breathes new life into the role, he often finds himself out of his depth, especially when coming up against updated versions of classic Batman foes. One such villain is the futuristic take on Catwoman.

Unlike Selina Kyle’s Catwoman, this version has no romantic attachment to Batman and is able to create duplicates of herself. Her first encounter with Batman Beyond starts stereotypically enough, with the Caped Crusader catching Catwoman breaking into a building. Though this version of Catwoman soon proves to be more than Terry bargained for, making her escape ata startlingly brisk pace. She tosses Terry into a building before she disappears into the night, showing she truly is a force to be reckoned with.

9 Catwoman Dominated Over Wildcat

Catwoman/Wildcat

Comic creators have lots of fun pairing up characters with similar powers. In Catwoman/Wildcat, the storytellers involved couldn’t resist the temptation to let the cats face off against one another. The fight kicks off while Selina plans yet another casino heist, only for her plans to get scuppered. The fight could have gone several ways if not for two factors: Wildcat had already duked it out with several thugs and Selina is very skilled at taking her opponents by surprise.

Their battle is punctuated by scenes of chaos inside the casino, with Catwoman steadily gaining the upper hand. Wildcat was not prepared for Selina’s whip. She brings him to his knees and keeps the fight going in her favor. Fortunately for Wildcat, the chaos provides an untimely conclusion to the battle, sparing him further harm.

8 Selina Kyle Defeated the Anti-Hero Black Alice

Batman #152

Thanks to the events of Absolute Power, Catwoman found herself in the uniquely deadly situation of facing off against an anti-hero and magic user known as Black Alice. Black Alice can steal the powers of magical beings, regardless of origin. This ability is just one of her reality-breaking powers, making her a dangerous opponent for anyone. On the bright side, Selina Kyle didn’t need to worry about losing any powers to Black Alice.

10 Batman Comics Where Catwoman Is A Hero Instead Of A Villain

While many characterize her as a villain, a criminal, and a thief, several Batman comics prove Selina Kyle has all the attributes of a hero.

Catwoman is a trained and talented thief who defies the status quo, especially against opponents like Black Alice. Instead of taking on the dangerous and arduous task of battling the sorceress directly, she sets a simple tripwire to distract this all-powerful being. It works like a charm, giving Selina Kyle the moment she needs to strike and take down the danger before she realizes what’s happening.

7 A Young Tim Drake Lost to Catwoman

Hush

Selina Kyle and certain members of the Bat Family have always had a complicated relationship, at best. One shining example of this is Selina’s relationship with Tim Drake. Over the years, they’ve fought and struggled to understand one another. It is only more recently that they’ve begun to see eye to eye, and even that likely won’t last. During the events of Hush, Tim and Selina hash out their feelings – with claws and fists.

Admittedly, Tim Drake is younger and less experienced during this fight, but it’s equally clear that Catwoman comes out on top. Had Batman not intervened when he did, it’s hard to be sure how far Catwoman would have gone. Given Tim Drake’s comments, it’s reasonable to be worried she wouldn’t have pulled her punches.

6 Catwoman Triumphed Against Batgirl

Batman Confidential #17

Catwoman and Batgirl have had many iconic battles over the years, but one battle is particularly noteworthy. In Batman Confidential #17, Catwoman comes up against a relatively inexperienced Batgirl. Barbara is still learning the tricks of the game and makes the mistake of underestimating Selina Kyle.

The two trade blows, and for a time, the fight could go either way. There’s no denying that Batgirl took the biggest hits, especially to her ego. Where Catwoman lands like her namesake, Batgirl lands hard. They’re both aware of the difference, and moments like these quickly add up. Catwoman uses every moment to her advantage, ensuring her victory.

5 Talia al Ghul Lost to Catwoman During a Swordfight

Batman #35 (Rebirth)

Batman #35 clash between Selina Kyle and Talia al Ghul remains an engrossing read, as the two have the rare opportunity to chat while they fight. It’s hard to say which battle is more fraught, the one with swords or with words. Clearly, Talia has strong feelings about the potential impending marriage, and those feelings may be getting in the way of her fighting abilities.

4 Catwoman Once Threw Zatanna Out the Window

Catwoman (2002) #50

Any character with a longstanding history in comics is guaranteed to have gone through some strange and traumatic experiences. Catwoman is no exception, as she unfortunately learned in Catwoman (2002) #50. At this point in time, Selina Kyle had turned away from supervillainy, focusing on her life as a vigilante. Though on the night in question, Selina learns that Zatanna had cast one of her backward spells to force Catwoman from a life of crime.

The revelation did not go over well. Wasting no time to process what she learned, Selina slapped tape across the magician’s mouth and shamelessly threw her out the window. While Zatanna ultimately opts for a hasty retreat, Catwoman takes her by surprise and gets her feelings across quite clearly.

3 Catwoman Brought Batman to the Brink of Death

Batman #355

Over the years, Catwoman has battled with Batman many times. Sometimes, she wins, sometimes she distracts the caped crusader, though on certain occasions, the battle doesn’t quite go her way. One memorable instance of Catwoman winning against Batman occurred in Batman #355. In this instance, the fight didn’t happen because Selina was trying to steal away with a new set of jewels. It was because she was upset about the idea of Batman moving on.

When word of Batman’s new love interest, Vicki Vale, came to light, Catwoman turned her cunning mind against the hero. The simple truth is that Batman has always pulled his punches with Selina, and during this particular battle, it nearly cost him his life. After knocking Batman off balance, Catwoman almost slits Batman’s throat before realizing what she’s doing. In other words, she could have killed Batman before he moved to stop her.

2 Catwoman Won the Battle Against Superman

Hush

Superman is no stranger to falling under Poison Ivy’s power, which is what occurred during Hush. Batman and Catwoman teamed up to take down the mind-controlled Superman, but they both knew it wouldn’t be easy. Catwoman knew she wouldn’t stand a chance against Clark’s powers, so she used a more creative route to save the day. While Batman stepped in to keep Superman busy, Selina ran with her plan.

Using the time bought by the distraction, Selina Kyle tracks down Lois Lane, knowing she’s Clark’s biggest weakness in life. She takes the journalist to the roof of the Daily Planet and promptly throws her off. While it sounds brutal, the trick knocks Superman out of Ivy’s control. This whole set of events proves that a superhero fight can be won without having to land a punch as long as the victor doesn’t mind playing dirty.

1 Catwoman Simultaneously Defeated Three Flashes

Batman #42

In an event that shocked fans around the globe, Catwoman took on three different Flashes – and won. In Batman #42, Poison Ivy has taken control of the entire human race, which included everyone apart from Batman and Catwoman. Since the fate of the world rested on their shoulders, both stepped up to the plate. While Ivy was able to control each hero like a puppet, she wasn’t able to draw on their experience or knowledge. This meant Ivy didn’t have a complete understanding of their abilities.

This lack of understanding cost Ivy the fight when she sent the Flashes into battle, setting up a fight where Selina can use their momentum to her advantage. What should have been a clear and quick victory for speedsteers who move faster than light instead became a battle decidedly in Catwoman’s favor.
