Wonder Woman faced many groundbreaking changes in 2024, with the most shocking being the long-awaited birth of her daughter. Ever since Trinity was first introduced back in 2023, DC fans have speculated about how this intriguing new character came to be. 2024 answered that question at long last, as Wonder Woman’s status quo was uprooted forever with Trinity’s arrival.
Tom King and Daniel Sampere finally unveiled the origin story of Wonder Woman’s daughter in Wonder Woman #14, the same issue that killed off her longtime love interest Steve Trevor in heartbreaking fashion. These two story beats are intertwined, the birth of her child and the death of her love both contributing to a major upheaval for one of DC’s most iconic superheroes.
With the mysterious circumstances of Trinity’s birth revealed, Wonder Woman welcomed her child into continuity in 2024, and the DC Universe will never be the same as this next-generation hero prepares to take the world by storm in 2025.
Wonder Woman Recreates Her Own Origin Story by Creating Her Daughter
In Wonder Woman #14, the villainous Sovereign was tired of Wonder Woman foiling his plots to break her spirit, so he resorted to drastic measures that led to the death of Steve Trevor. Diana traveled to the depths of the underworld in an effort to get him back, and although she couldn’t save him, she kept his memory alive in a different way. She merged their souls into a single thread, then used that thread to form a baby out of clay. Born from the love of Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor, Elizabeth Marston Prince – later known as the hero Trinity – made her in-continuity debut.

Wonder Woman’s Daughter Just Tapped Into Her First Superpower, And I Think It Is a Work of Genius
In a blink-and-you-miss-it moment in the latest Wonder Woman release, I’m 98% sure DC has just revealed the first superpower of Diana’s daughter.
Trinity’s origin is especially profound when considering how it ties into Wonder Woman’s own roots as a character. Like her daughter, Diana was born from clay, but this new take on that traditional origin adds another layer of meaning through the souls embedded into the clay. Wonder Woman’s romance with Steve Trevor endures despite his untimely demise as it gives life to a child. Elizabeth “Lizzie” Prince is the best of both of her parents, and she’s sure to be an inspired addition to the mainline DC Universe now that Wonder Woman has brought her into the world.
Wonder Woman’s Daughter Made Her Mark on the DC Universe Throughout 2024
Trinity Became a Hero with Superman and Batman Outside of DC’s Main Continuity
Trinity may have only recently been born in DC’s canon timeline, but other timelines have depicted her as an active hero apart from her mother’s story. Throughout 2024, Lizzie was featured at various stages of her life in back-up stories from Wonder Woman, written by King with art by Belén Ortega. These fun-filled tales have now been collected in Trinity Special #1 and Trinity Special: World’s Finest #1, and they give readers a glimpse at the future adventures of Wonder Woman’s child. Joining her in these stories are the kids of Superman and Batman, Jon Kent and Damian Wayne, emulating their parents’ iconic trio.
Trinity’s laugh-out-loud adventures with Jon Kent and Damian Wayne are slated for a trade paperback release in Trinity: Generation S, available May 6th, 2025 from DC Comics.
The stories collected in these books span from Lizzie’s early years as a child to her becoming the new hero Trinity. Superman and Robin – later Batman, in this alternate version of DC lore – act as her babysitters in order to keep the daughter of Wonder Woman in line, and they all form a deep bond with one another through their wacky shenanigans. Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman’s friendship has earned them a reputation as DC’s core Trinity, and with Lizzie’s birth, their kids can finally meet within the main continuity in 2025 and carry on their predecessors’ legacy.
