2025 is already shaping up to be an epic year for DC fans, with the upcoming release of James Gunn’s Superman movie, followed closely by the August debut of Peacemaker season 2. As a die-hard Peacemaker fan, it’s been a long three years of waiting for the new season. So you can imagine my jaw dropping when I found out not only is the new season on the horizon, but Adrian “Vigilante” Chase—Peacemaker’s BFF—will be getting his own solo series in March.

…Peacemaker Presents: The Vigilante / Eagly Double Feature is by far my most anticipated comic of 2025…

While John Cena’s Peacemaker is undeniably a masterpiece, I have to admit—he’s not my favorite character. From the second Vigilante appeared on screen, I was hooked. His morally questionable antics paired with his naïve charm made him instantly obsession-worthy. Hence, the March 26 release announcement of Peacemaker Presents: The Vigilante / Eagly Double Feature #1 was like a pure hit of dopamine.

The Vigilante story starts when Peacemaker has disappeared! It’s up to Adrian Chase, the Vigilante and Peacemaker’s Bestest Friend to find him! The crime bosses of Evergreen must pay! BLOOD WILL BE SPILLED! (oh, wait, you say Peacemaker is just on vacation? Oh. uh. Don’t tell Adrian.) Meanwhile, Eagly and his sidekick, Chris Smith (aka Peacemaker), are exhausted! After kicking the #$%@ out of a buncha Nazi lizard dudes, it’s time to head to the great outdoors for some fresh air and a much needed vacay. But when their commute is co-opted by a bunch of masked &$#%$@#!, it’s up to a certain eagle hero and his pet human to get themselves (and some dumb innocent folks) out of quite the pickle. Will lives be lost? Duh. An original DC Comics story, inspired by James Gunn’s visionary Peacemaker series on MAX, ya best get ready to rumble!

With Tim Seeley at the helm and Mitch Gerads providing applause-worthy art, this mini-series already feels like a dream come true. And just when I thought it couldn’t get any better—James Gunn, the man who redefined these once D-List characters, is stepping in as a creative story consultant. Could DC have served up anything more perfect?

James Gunn’s Involvement Ensures This Comic Will Be Everything Fans Dreamed Of

While Adrian Chase has a long history in comics, dating back to his first appearance in Marv Wolfman and George Pérez’s New Teen Titans #23 (1982), this isn’t the Vigilante I fell in love with. While I appreciate the character’s comic origins, it wasn’t until Adrian Chase made his debut on the silver screen that I truly started paying attention to him. James Gunn’s reimagining of Adrian as a chaotic, earnest, and hilariously unhinged character completely won me over—combining three of my favorite traits into one unforgettable persona.

Knowing that James Gunn will be consulting on the comic has reassured me that it’s his version of Vigilante that I can expect in Tim Seeley’s series. While most of my excitement stems from the prospect of seeing the Gunn-inspired Adrian brought to life on the page, I’m equally intrigued by what Seeley himself will bring to the character. I can’t wait to see how he adds his own flair, especially in crafting witty, humorous dialogue that stays true to Vigilante’s unique charm. In short, I couldn’t have asked for a better creative team to handle one of my favorite DC characters.

I’m Here for the Vigilante Content–But I’m Just Excited For an Eagly POV

Cover E 1:25 Card Stock Variant by Matteo Lolli for Peacemaker Presents: The Vigilante / Eagly Double Feature #1 (2025)

While most of my excitement for this double feature series comes from Vigilante finally getting his own story, I’m equally intrigued by Eagly’s side of the narrative. The creative team has already set the tone perfectly in the synopsis: “Meanwhile, Eagly and his sidekick, Chris Smith (aka Peacemaker), are exhausted!” I love that we’re likely to get a fresh twist in perspective, with Eagly’s side of the story being told from the eagle’s point of view. It’s endlessly entertaining how Seeley has already established a humorous dynamic, with Eagly referring to Peacemaker as his “pet human.”

From the synopsis alone, it’s clear that this comic is set to deliver peak hilarity and chaotic fun. While I love DC’s ongoing main storylines for the way they push iconic, decades-old characters, I’m beyond thrilled for a series that promises pure humor and good old-fashioned comic-book violence. Plus, it’s refreshing to step away from the headline heroes and follow two relatively obscure characters who have already proven themselves to be breakout stars and fan favorites thanks to the TV series.

While I have exceptionally high hopes for what promises to be a wild and entertaining narrative, I’m equally confident that the art will match the story’s brilliance. I was a huge fan of Mitch Gerads’ work in Tom King’s Mister Miracle, and based on his cover for Peacemaker Presents: The Vigilante / Eagly Double Feature #1, my excitement has already skyrocketed. Not to mention, this comic seems poised to deliver some seriously killer and hilarious variant covers. To say the least, Peacemaker Presents: The Vigilante / Eagly Double Feature is by far my most anticipated comic of 2025, and I’m already on pins and needles waiting for March to arrive.
