Warning! Spoilers ahead for Green Lantern #19!Things are about to get a lot more complicated for Green Lantern as a new threat promises to be far worse than Sinestro’s evil organization. Green Lantern has survived a civil war among the Corps, but a new threat is on the horizon, and they could be the most dangerous thing Hal Jordan and his fellow Lanterns have ever faced.
In Green Lantern #19 by Jeremy Adams, Fernando Pasarin, Oclair Albert, and Jason Paz, Hal brings Star Sapphire up to speed on her ex-fiancé, Sorrow, and tells Carol that Hal is assembling a crew to stop him from constructing a new Central Power Battery.
Out in the far reaches of space, Sorrow meets with the recurring Green Lantern threat, Starbreaker, and delivers the Book of Oa to him. With the fabled tome in his control, Starbreaker summons his brothers and sisters, creating a ‘Starbreaker Corps’ that will feed on what’s left of the Emotional Spectrum until they’re all satiated.

Green Lantern’s Newest Threat Wants to Feed on the Universe’s Emotional Power
The Emotional Spectrum that gives the Green Lanterns their power is in a fragile place right now. It was attacked by the United Planets’ leader, Lord Premier Thaaros in an attempt to unlock the power of the Source Lantern. Thaaros destroyed almost every Central Power Battery in the DCU, an action that caused aberrations to form (namely the creation of a new Lantern powered by sadness). Thaaros was eventually overthrown and the power of the Corps returned to the Green Lanterns, but the Emotional Spectrum is still acting erratically and now anyone who experiences intense emotions can summon its power.
In his heyday, Sinestro had a corps that was powered by fear, but thanks to Thaaros’ actions, there is no Sinestro Corps anymore (or any other Corps other than Green for that matter). Not to mention, the Green Lanterns are still recovering from Thaaros’ actions, making now the perfect time for Starbreaker to make his move. Starbreaker is a cosmic vampire who feeds on energy, and there’s no greater energy than the Emotional Spectrum, which is now incredibly vulnerable. Starbreaker’s new army could feed on what’s left of the Emotional Spectrum and put the DC Universe in serious danger.

How Can the Green Lanterns Defeat an Anti-Central Power Battery?
Most corps draw from the Emotional Spectrum, but Starbreaker wants his new organization to feed him and his kin. And with the Book of Oa at his disposal, he could easily construct a Central Power Battery that harnesses the fractured energy in order to consume it, rather than keep it circulating in the universe. The Emotional Spectrum is severely weakened right now, and it’s more than likely not going to be able to survive what Starbreaker has planned. Hopefully, there’s something the Green Lanterns can do to stop this insidious new corps before it destroys the Emotional Spectrum for good.
