The DC vs. Vampires Elseworlds has been relentlessly brutal, claiming the lives of countless characters–yet, the heroes may be getting unexpected reinforcements from Cyborg Superman. While he’s the last person anyone would expect to come to the rescue, even a villain like him has no desire to be torn apart by vampires.

Cyborg Superman now has both the power and the opportunity to finally live up to the “S” on his chest.

Readers got their first look at Cyborg Superman in this universe in DC vs Vampires: World War V #7 by Matthew Rosenberg and Otto Schmidt. The issue opens with a group of survivors that readers haven’t seen before, and interestingly, they all seem to be either robotic or non-organic in some way.

Some of the faces in this new group include James Gordon’s old “Rookie” mech-suit, G.I Robot, Chemo, the Metal Men, and Cyborg Superman. The interesting bit about this group is that just about everyone here should be completely immune to the vampire virus, which makes them one of Earth’s last and best hopes.

Cyborg Superman May Be Humanity’s Best Weapon Against DC’s Vampire Plague

DC vs Vampires: World War V #7 by Matthew Rosenberg, Otto Schmidt, Pierluigi Casolino, Pasquale Qualano, and Joey Esposito

Cyborg Superman has long been one of Superman’s deadliest enemies. Though he doesn’t appear frequently in Superman’s lore, every time he does, he proves to be an immense threat. Not only does he possess all of Superman’s powers without any of his weaknesses, but he also wields abilities that Superman lacks, including mind control and the ability to override any machinery. However, what truly sets Cyborg Superman apart is his predominantly robotic body, containing very little organic matter.

The vampire infection has devastated the world, seemingly capable of infecting any living being. Humans are naturally vulnerable, transforming rapidly once bitten, but even powerful races like Kryptonians, Amazons, and Martians have proven susceptible. As long as a person is alive, they can be turned, with one of the only exceptions so far being Starfire. Even Superman—who is traditionally immune to vampirism—fell to this new strain of the virus. However, the infection wouldn’t work on beings without organic components, such as the Metal Men or Chemo.

Cyborg Superman Is One Of The Few Who Can’t Be Infected

Could He Be The Savior Earth Needs?

Ever since the vampires took over, Earth’s heroes have been desperately searching for a way to fight back. With powerhouses like Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, and Superman turned, hope seemed all but lost. While Harley Quinn’s blood may hold the key to ending the vampire plague, she remains in their custody, making her an unreachable solution for now. That’s what makes Cyborg Superman and his new group so vital—they are among the few beings on the planet who appear completely immune to infection.

Cyborg Superman has never been a hero. He’s spent years attacking Superman and the Super-Family, haunting them to the point of literal nightmares. His threat level has always been immense, but in a world overrun by vampires—where humanity has been reduced to little more than livestock—he might just be Earth’s best hope. While it’s hard to imagine, Cyborg Superman now has both the power and the opportunity to finally live up to the “S” on his chest.
