Get ready, because DC Comics’ ambitious new Absolute Universe is about to get even bigger. After making a splash debut last fall, the new line is on the precipice of expanding with new titles like Absolute Flash and Absolute Green Lantern. But one creator reveals there’s much more on the way.

Absolute Universe head honcho and Absolute Batman writer Scott Snyder discussed the new universe and line of comics on the Comics Watchers podcast on YouTube. Snyder delved into his and his collaborators’ new world, and even provided some hints about what was next.

Snyder specifically namedropped Che Grayson and Pornsak Pichetshote as creators who would be working on future titles set in the Absolute Universe. Though Snyder didn’t provide details on any new series, he did say that Grayson’s would be ‘Batman-related’ and that DC wouldn’t overwhelm readers and keep the Absolute line to about “seven books at any time

Scott Snyder Names Creators Coming to the Absolute Universe

DC Comics is Slowly Growing Its Coolest New World

The Absolute Universe emerged as a major part of the DC Universe last year in the DC All In Special. After getting into a fight with the Justice League, Darkseid’s body was destroyed and his energy dispersed throughout the cosmos, largely settling on the newly-formed Earth-Alpha. The Darkseid energy heavily influenced this world, shifting the guiding force from hope to adversity and turmoil. In this world, everyone faces greater challenges, even the heroes who have begun to emerge.

Rather than inundate fans with books, the Absolute line has taken a slower approach. And this has paid off considerably as the first three titles (Absolute Batman, Absolute Superman, and Absolute Wonder Woman) have had the time to breathe and properly introduce fans to this world. Now fans are eager for more and ready to sink their teeth into more books set in this world. While there are no major hints as to what books are on the horizon (beyond one being ‘Batman-related’), it’s nice to know that Snyder and his collaborators are taking the time to build something excellent.

The Absolute Universe is Better Remaining Small and Focused

There’s No Need to Rush, Give it Time to Grow Naturally

People who have fallen for the Absolute Universe are probably champing at the bit for more, but part of the reason it’s worked so far is that the creators have taken their time. An onslaught of books only serves to have something get overshadowed when these books should be highlighting one another. Sure, having a dozen or so books at once set in the Absolute Universe would be interesting, but there’s no guarantee that the quality will remain.

For now, fans can take solace in the fact that more Absolute Universe books are coming. While there’s no indication of what heroes are about to get the Absolute treatment, readers can rest assured that details will come out when the minds behind this new line are ready to reveal them. The Absolute Universe has been great so far, so for now, it’s best to enjoy the Absolute books DC Comics has and is about to release and be surprised when details of the new ones finally come to light.
