Following Daniel Craig reportedly dropping out, now it’s claimed that Colin Farrell is in talks to play the titular character in the DCU Sgt. Rock movie, currently in development.
It’s reported via THR that Colin Farrell is in negotiations for Sgt. Rock following Daniel Craig dropping out who is now said to be circling a role in Netflix and Greta Gerwig’s big Narnia movie.
If the deal goes through with Farrell, Sgt. Rock will still be on track to shoot this summer in England.
What about Penguin?
Regarding Penguin, Colin Farrell will still be playing the character in The Batman: Part II. The Penguin doesn’t look anything like Farell, as makeup and prosthetics are used, so there is no problem with the actor having two DC roles. Sgt. Rock also isn’t set in the same universe as Penguin and Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson’s Batman. It’s unknown if there will be a Penguin Season 2.
Interestingly enough, Colin Farrell has previously been featured in war movies where he has played soldiers with Tigerland, Hart’s War, and The Beguiled.
Behind the Sgt. Rock movie
Luca Guadagnino is directing, with the script by Justin Kuritzkes, who wrote Guadagnino’s Challengers and Queer.
No release date has been said.
What is Sgt. Rock about?
The official plot details haven’t been released.
Sgt. Rock is one of DC Comics’ most legendary war heroes, created by writer Robert Kanigher and artist Joe Kubert. He debuted in Our Army at War #83 in 1959 and quickly became the face of the series, which was later renamed Sgt. Rock in his honor.
Frank Rock, known simply as Sgt. Rock, commands Easy Company—a gritty, battle-hardened unit fighting through the trenches of World War II. With his Thompson submachine gun, grenadier’s belt, and steely glare under his helmet, Rock stands as a symbol of grit, loyalty, and unbreakable resolve.
