Warning! Spoilers ahead for Superman #15!Things in Superman’s world have changed with the debut of a surprising new planet. Brainiac’s latest attack on the Super-Family nearly resulted in the DC Universe being annihilated. Instead, the cosmos have gotten just a little bit bigger with a world that is bringing together every single one of Brainiac’s victims.

In Superman #15 by Joshua Williamson and Rafa Sandoval, Lex Luthor and his daughter Lena discover Brainiac’s hive mind and Lex erases it, causing Brainiac’s ship to implode. Before that, Lobo saves Brainiac’s collection of bottle cities while Superman rescues the Coluan city Brainiac had revived.

In the following days, Lobo and Superman discuss the fallout and Clark asks if Lobo kept the cities safe. Lobo confirms they have and thanks to Brainiac’s son, Vril Dox, the cities have been enlarged and combined into a new “melting pot of a planet” Lobo calls Colu 2.0.

DC Combines Dozens of Brainiac’s Cities Into One New Planet

Brainiac’s very name sends chills down the spines of beings all across the universe. Seeing himself as the sole being worthy of possessing the DC Universe’s knowledge, Brainiac traveled from world to world, pilfering planets of their information and preserving a portion of these worlds, shrinking them and adding them to his insidious collection. Recently, Brainiac’s been feeling a longing he couldn’t understand and did the unthinkable. With Lex Luthor’s assistance, Brainiac revived his civilization with the one sample of Colu he had in his collection, allowing the Coluans a chance to be part of the DC Universe again.

It was a sight to see Brainiac enlarge any of his bottled cities, especially Colu. But with the information pirate out of the way, more compassionate Coluans like Vril were able to give the rest of the bottled cities a second chance at life. It’s unknown how many cities Brainiac had in his collection, but it could very well be in the hundreds or even thousands. Lobo might see Colu 2.0 as chaos, but this is a fantastic development. While it doesn’t undo what Brainiac did to these unfortunate alien races, it created something that Superman would most certainly appreciate.

Colu 2.0 is the Best Second Chance for the DC Universe’s Most Deserving

As someone who has dealt with Brainiac preserving a piece of his home, Superman knows all too well that these bottled cities deserve to be free. They may not be able to go back to their original home, but these countless alien species can move past their shared trauma together and unite to create something new. Is there a chance Colu 2.0 could fail? Possibly. But it’s a wonderful idea that does its best to rectify the terrible things that Superman’s sinister enemy brought to the world.
