The following contains major spoilers for Titans #14, on sale now from DC Comics.

One of the most powerful Teen Titans is officially the DC Universe’s next biggest problem.

After finally realizing the horrifying truth behind Raven’s recent mood swings, the rest of her teammates are forced to confront her head-on in the pages of Titans #14. Before they can even get moving on their mission, however, the heroes are interrupted by the sudden appearance of The Specter along with Raven’s two demonic brothers. Unfortunately for everyone involved, the additions of these supernatural forces who were supposed to oppose Raven’s dark other half have only made her stronger — and there might not be any stopping whatever she has planned next.

Rachel Roth, better known as Raven, has been a part of the DC Universe since her debut in 1980’s DC Comics Presents #26 in Marv Wolfman and George Pérez’s story, “New Teen Titans: Where the Nightmare Begins!” The daughter of the ancient and powerful demon Trigon, Raven is innately attuned to all manner of mystical and malevolent forces. Over the years, she has not only taken on a whole host of enemies alongside her fellow Titans but she has also been caught at the center of numerous infernal plots that would have weaponized her powers or status.

The villainous Dark Raven who was previously trapped within the hero’s iconic red soul gem was somehow freed following the Titans’ battle against the demon Neron. Not long after, this Dark Raven made a pact with none other than Amanda Waller, who was preparing to go to war with the world’s heroes as seen in DC’s ongoing Absolute Power event. In exchange for Dark Raven’s help, Waller handed over both the Nightmare Stone and the Helmet of Hate, giving the former the chance to terrorize her foes as Doctor Hate before her big reveal.

When the Titans finally came into conflict with Doctor Hate, Raven took it upon herself to single-handedly defeat the villain. Tragically, Raven was the one who ended up being beaten in battle, giving her twisted other self the opportunity to trap her within a soul gem in kind. In doing so, Dark Raven was able to infiltrate the Titans with none of its members having any clue what she was up to, nor that they were going to be helping their worst enemies over the next few months.
