Warning: Contains spoilers for Dark Knights of Steel: Allwinter #2!!

Deathstroke is one of DC’s most prolific and formidable assassins, but Rose Wilson showed she’s even more deadly than her father. After Slade abandons a crucial contract, Ravager finishes the job and secures her place with Jarl Vandar Savage. Though she’s unable to complete the task, she outsmarts and viciously wounds her father and Adeline, finally proving that she outpaces him in combat.

In Dark Knights of Steel: Allwinter #2 – written by Tom Taylor, with art by Riccardo Federici – Deathstroke throws out the deal he struck with Jarl Vandar to capture the young boy, Alec, in favor of protecting his (former) wife and the child. Rather than forfeit the contract, the Jarl sends Deathstroke’s daughter to recover Alec and handle her father, instead.

The ensuing fight makes it clear that Allwinter’s Ravager “learned all [she] needed” from Deathstroke, as Rose turns those lessons into a killing blow as she drives a sword through Deathstroke and Adeline in one impressive maneuver.

“Ravager” Rose Wilson Outsmarts Her Father Deathstroke, Dealing Him A Brutal Defeat

The moment Slade lets his guard down, assuming he’s won their battle, she strikes hard, leaving Adeline dead and severely wounding her father. The move embodies the idea that Rose can be as brutal as Deathstroke.

Regardless of universe, the Wilson family has a complicated history, and Dark Knights of Steel: Allwinter is no exception. Slade has done something to “destroy” both of his sons and drive a wedge in his marriage, and Rose has once again followed in her father’s footsteps as an assassin. Ravager is always a skilled fighter, thanks to her precognition (which also exists in Allwinter) and intense training, but she is frequently on the losing end, as shown in battles against Cassandra Cain, her “brother” Respawn, and (most importantly) her father. Allwinter gives her a chance to shine.

Despite Rose’s remarkable skill and prowess, Deathstroke never passes up an opportunity to belittle her or assert his superiority. This time, Rose uses the tactic to her advantage. The moment Slade lets his guard down, assuming he’s won their battle, she strikes hard, leaving Adeline dead and severely wounding her father. The move embodies the idea that Rose can be as brutal as Deathstroke, and she’s observant enough to twist his ego in her favor. If Ravager used that much focus and seized similar opportunities in other battles, she could cut her way through DC’s hero roster with relative ease.

Rose Wilson’s Relationship with Deathstroke Motivates Her To Defeat Her Father

The Viking Version Finally Succeeds

Rose’s difficult relationship with Slade typically manifests some mixture of disgust, anger, and an intense desire to prove herself, and this Elseworld’s Ravager rolls all of that into the most dangerous package ever. Although Alec eventually uses his abilities to force Rose out of the picture, his interference doesn’t negate her victory over Slade. A single contract matters little compared to proving she can take down her father and the woman who trained him. Ravager often walks the line between heroism and villainy, but tipping over into the latter shows that she’s even more skilled and ruthless than Deathstroke.
