WB Montreal Job Listing Hints at New Game in the DC Universe

If a newly posted job listing is to be believed, WB Montreal may be working on another triple-A game in the DC Comics universe. WB Montreal is no stranger to DC, having worked on the Wii U port of Batman: Arkham City before making its own entry in the Arkhamverse with the 2013 prequel Batman: Arkham Origins. From there, WB Montreal would branch out into its own DC gaming continuity with Gotham Knights in 2022, before returning to the Arkhamverse to assist Rocksteady with this year’s Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

Earlier this year, rumors started to circulate that WB Montreal was beginning work on another video game based on DC Comics, and one that would be primarily single-player and built using Unreal Engine 5. In March, a job posting for a Creative Director seemed to support this, as it made mention of a triple-A game based on “a popular franchise.” Exactly what this project is remains a mystery, but many are hoping that WB Montreal will give fans a blockbuster Superman game after focusing on Batman’s lore for so long.

At the very least, it seems that WB Montreal is indeed working on another DC game. In a recent job listing, the studio seeks a Senior Producer to oversee the development of this new title, and it specifically notes that the game in question is a triple-A offering set in the DC Comics Universe. No further details about the project are included in the job listing, as it seems to indicate that the game is still in the early pre-production stages of development.

While Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League didn’t quite captivate gamers like Rocksteady’s previous Arkhamverse offerings, there are plenty of exciting DC gaming projects to look forward to. Aside from Monolith Productions’ already confirmed Wonder Woman game, recent rumors suggest that Rocksteady is once again working on a new Batman game, and one that Sony might be financing as a potential PlayStation exclusive.

While WB Montreal’s rumored DC game could tie into the Arkhamverse like Batman: Arkham Origins before it, the developer might instead be focusing on something else entirely. After all, the DC Comics universe is vast, and DCU head James Gunn has stated that his planned cinematic universe will have tie-in video games. Whether the studio’s latest project is part of those plans is a riddle yet to be solved, as so far the only thing fans have to go on are the clues left in the company’s recent wave of job offers.
