Development work on the next DC Universe game seems to be ramping up, if WB Games Montreal’s recruitment activity is anything to go by. As spotted by internet sleuths, the company is hiring a senior producer to work on a AAA title set in the DC Comics universe. Previous job listings have confirmed that WB Games Montreal is looking to expand its DC Comics portfolio.
The recent job advertisement for a senior producer follows a 2023 listing for a lead gameplay programmer, which confirmed that WB Games Montreal was expanding its DC comics portfolio following the lackluster performance of Gotham Knights in 2022. The studio also assisted Rocksteady Studios with 2024’s Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which also bombed.
WB Games Montreal had better luck in 2013, when it released Batman: Arkham Origins. Although the PS3 game earned a mixed critic reception, it performed well commercially. Neither Gotham Knights nor Suicide Squad could replicate that commercial success.
The job listing doesn’t give much else away, but is an interesting discovery in light of recent reports that Rocksteady is returning to the Batman franchise, which Sony is allegedly trying to snag some kind of an exclusivity deal for. Whether this listing is related to that rumored project or not is anybody’s guess right now.
