Want more Peacemaker before Peacemaker comes back to our screens? DC has you covered with a new five-issue comic book

The second season of DC’s Peacemaker might not hit Max for sometime, but fans of the James Gunn-written series only have a handful of months to wait until they can catch up with their new favorite characters, with the announcement of an all-new, in-canon comic book series launching in early 2025 showcasing the true stars of the show: the Vigilante and Eagly. (No, really.)

Peacemaker Presents: The Vigilante/Eagly Double Feature will be a five-issue miniseries set between the first and second seasons of the series, with both the involvement of James Gunn and clues about where the show is headed when it comes back to our screens. And don’t worry — Peacemaker himself is going to show up, as well.

As the name suggests, the series will feature two strips: Eagly by Rex Ogle and Matteo Lolli, and Vigilante, by Tim Seeley and Mitch Gerads, with Gunn serving as story consultant for the entire package. We’re putting Eagly first because that’s the strip that will also feature Christopher Smith himself, when he and Eagly are amongst a group of people kidnapped by a group of super-villains hoping to play the World’s Most Dangerous Game — that’s hunting people for sport, in case you didn’t know; sorry, dodgeball fans — unaware of just how dangerous it’s going to turn out.

“When [DC editor] Katie Kubert asked me to do a short for DC’s Strange Love Adventures, I was stoked to write a Peacemaker story,” writer Ogle said in a statement provided by the publisher. “So getting to dive back in and play with this iconic antihero again (and in a miniseries this time!) is a total dream. Part of what makes him so great is that at his core, Peacemaker is a hopeless optimist. He wants the world to be a better place, not just for himself, but for others. He doesn’t always go about achieving peace in the right way, but he brings an incredible levity to the violence that is already ever-present in our world. And sometimes we need to laugh at the bad — so we don’t break down and cry.”

Meanwhile, all the Vigilante knows is that Peacemaker is missing and unavailable for fun hangs… so of course it’s time for him to attack the local criminal community until he finds some answers.

“Awkward. Clueless. Possibly psychotic. Obsessed with destroying furniture. That’s Mitch Gerads,” Tim Seeley said about his collaborator on his half of the series. “Oh…wait? You mean you want me to describe Adrian Chase, Vigilante? Oh, sure. He’s the coolest dude ever and he smashes so many chicks. Also, he’s a great friend, and definitely not a serial-killing busboy. Peacemaker is lucky to call him ‘bro,’ and Mitch and I are lucky to continue his horrifically violent adventures at DC Comics.”

Announced during the Jim Lee & Friends panel at New York Comic Con 2024, Peacemaker Presents: The Vigilante/Eagly Double Feature is punching its way onto shelves March 2025. Personally, we can’t wait.
