Batman fans are torn about who appears to be the new Dark Knight of Gotham City.

In the 1939 issue of Detective Comics #27, Batman made his debut as the world’s greatest detective and from that moment on, he became one of the most popular comic book characters all of the time.

Before we proceed, I am about to go into major spoilers for DC vs. Vampires: World War V #4, so please consider this to be your final spoiler warning.

Written by Matthew Rosenberg and with artwork by Otto Schmidt, DC vs. Vampires: World War V is one of the most brutal Elseworlds DC stories in recent years with enough twists, turns, and scares that it would even give Count Dracula the fright of his life.

“It’s the dead of winter, and any hope for a fragile truce between the Green Arrow-led human heroes and vampire queen Barbara Gordon’s army has been dashed by Damian Wayne and his guerrilla fighters,” reads the synopsis of DC vs. Vampires: World War V.

“Damian is the only one fighting back against the bloodthirsty hordes, leaving Green Arrow with a choice: Does he stand and fight or sacrifice the boy in the name of peace?”

While I won’t divulge the series’ full plot line, I do want to touch upon the fact that Ra’s al Ghul is seemingly revealed to be the new Batman.

I say ‘seemingly’ as this remains a theory, but a convincing one that comes from YouTuber Dan! with the theory based around the fact that the mystery caped crusader refers to Damian Wayne as “child” and there aren’t too many options as to who would do that.

You can watch the full breakdown of the theory below.

“That is NUTTY! Also, the context you give before explaining why you have this theory is such a fever dream,” replied ParagonQuille.

“It could be him. It has to be someone Damien knows and has a certain amount of respect, to expect him to be cooperative,” replied alexanderlezama336 adding to the notion that Ra’s al Ghul is Batman.

“This story is so stupid. I love it,” exclaimed Mayhem5150.

“Ra’s being Batman is honestly one of the wildest things I’ve seen,” monitorman4493 commented.

DC vs. Vampires: World War V #4 is available from 13 November 2024 wherever you buy your DC comics.
