Daniel Craig may soon be teaming up with DC Studios to take on the role of a classic comic book character. The potential deal would also see him partner back up with director Luca Guadagnino.
Per Deadline, Craig is wanted to star in DC Studios’ planned feature film adaptation of Sgt. Rock. Guadagnino, who recently worked with Craig on Queer, is also eyed to direct. The film, based on DC’s classic Sgt. Rock comic books, is written by Justin Kuritzkes, who also wrote Guadagnino’s Challengers and Queer. The project is reportedly in development at DC Studios under the eye of James Gunn and Peter Safran, but the two have not yet addressed the news.

Blair Penner played a character implied to be Sgt. Rock in Legends of Tomorrow, and Karl Urban voiced an animated version in the short film DC Showcase: Sgt. Rock. Names like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis were attached to previous planned feature film adaptations that never got off the ground, and Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell suggested casting a Hemsworth brother after co-writing last year’s Sgt. Rock vs. the Army of the Dead.

For now, fans of Craig can see the actor in Queer, which hits theaters on Nov. 27. The A24 movie, a romantic drama set in the 1950s, co-stars Drew Starkey, Lesley Manville, and Jason Schwartzman. It comes ahead of Craig’s return to the role of Benoit Blanc, as he’s back in Netflix’s Wake Up Dead Man, due to hit the streaming platform in 2025. A release date hasn’t yet been set for the film, though Craig has reportedly been pushing for Netflix to give the movie a proper theatrical release ahead of its streaming debut.
Craig is perhaps best known for playing the role of James Bond. His run as 007 lasted five movies, culminating with the release of No Time to Die in 2021.
