Batman Arkham Asylum new-gen remake leaves fans seriously torn

Batman: Arkham Asylum is considered to be one of the best video games of all time and according to a recent rumour, it could soon be getting a remake.

Batman: Arkham Asylum was originally released in 2009 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Before the arrival of this Caped Crusader video game, comic fans never had many quality options when it came to beloved superhero video game adaptations.

Developed by Rocksteady Studios, on the aggregate website Metacritic, Batman: Arkham Asylum earned a score of 92 and received the “Must-Play” accolade as well as scoring an impressive 8.6 from users, cementing its place as an all-time great.

The series would later spawn three more entries (not including VR spin-offs), namely Batman: Arkham City, Batman: Arkham Knight and the prequel developed by Warner Bros. Montreal, Batman: Arkham Origins.

Depending on who you ask, each fan may give you a different answer as to which Batman Arkham game is the best. Rocksteady Studios’ most recent game is the ill-fated Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League which many consider to be a stain set in the Arkhamverse.

Perhaps in an attempt to get back into the good graces of fans, a rumour from YouTuber Vara Dark claims that Warner Bros. plans to remake Batman: Arkham Asylum.

This rumour could play into a recent investor call from Warner Bros. where the publisher announced its plans to release multiple new games in the Batman Arkham series.

Vara Dark claims that sources have informed her that a remake of Batman: Arkham Asylum has been greenlit and it could potentially feature voice-cast members of Batman: Arkham Shaodws, the recent VR spin-off.

Amongst others, Batman: Arkham Shadows saw Roger Craig Smith reprise the role of Bruce Wayne, who had previously voiced the character in Batman: Arkham Origins before the passing of franchise veteran, Kevin Conroy.

“That’s a terrible idea. People want a new Arkham game, not a remake of an old one, especially since Asylum holds up amazingly to this day,” said Redditor Gabrielhrd. “It’s such a bad concept that I’m inclined to believe it’s true seeing WBs recent track record.”

“It sounds like nonsense. I don’t believe in it in any way,” exclaimed Eugene_Dav.

“Officer balls in 4K, let’s go,” replied a joyous TGB_Skeletor.

Of course, we should take all rumours with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise. Hopefully, Warner Bros. Games will reveal all in the coming months and when/if it does, we’ll keep you updated.
