Batman is gearing up to take on a supernatural werewolf in a new DC Black Label title arriving this Halloween season. Batman: Full Moon, a four-issue monthly series will debut Oct. 9.

The new series will be written by Eisner-nominated author Rodney Barnes (Star Wars: Ahsoka, Luke Cage: Gang War) and features art by Stevan Subic (The Riddler: Year One). In Batman: Full Moon, an ancient, supernatural werewolf is loose on the streets of Gotham City, forcing The Dark Knight to respond to keep his hometown safe. On his journey to put the werewolf down, Batman will find even some of the DC Universe’s most powerful magicians, including Zatanna Zatara, warning him that he may not walk away from this encounter unharmed. Batman: Full Moon #1 goes on sale Oct. 9.

In announcing the new Black Label series, DC shared that each issue of the series will feature a glow-in-the-dark main cover by series artist Subic. The first issue’s cover was revealed, along with variant covers by Steve Beach, Francesco Francavilla and Mike Perkins. Interior artwork for the first issue shows the werewolf wreaking havoc on citizens while Batman stalks him in the shadows.

DC’s Black Label Imprint to Feature Plastic Man, Zatanna and More

DC Comics’ Black Label imprint tells original stories intended for mature audiences, ages 17+. Several of DC’s most prominent writers and artists have produced stories released throug the imprint, including Frank Miller, Greg Capullo, Scott Snyder, Tom King and James Tynion IV. Black Label titles come in what DC labels a “Prestige Format” that is wider and taller than regularly-sized comics, with each issue also having cardstock paper covers.

Currently, DC’s Black Label is publishing five miniseries featuring some of the publisher’s fan favorite characters, including Damian Wayne in The Boy Wonder and Zatanna in Zatanna: Bring Down the House. In June, the publisher announced a new Plastic Man series would arrive this September.
