Batman fans are as united as the Justice League over this perfect casting of the Joker.
Without Joker, Batman wouldn’t have become one of the most popular comic book heroes of all time and without Batman, Joker wouldn’t have become one of the most popular villains. Two iconic, larger-than-life characters that will continue to entertain fans for generations to come.

We’ve been treated to some fantastic live-action Joker characters from Cesar Romero’s version in the 1960s TV series to Jack Nicholson (Batman, 1989), Heath Ledger (The Dark Knight), and Joaquin Phoenix (Joker).

Let’s also not forget about Mark Hamill’s brilliant Clown Prince in Batman: The Animated Series and Batman: Arkham from Rocksteady Studios.
So it’s fair to say that whoever becomes the next Joker has big shoes to fill and by the looks of things, Barry Keoghan could be the next in line to play a leading role in Matt Reeves’ The Batman Part 2 (currently not its official name).
That being said, with The Batman movie series currently being its own entity from James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DCU, there’s every chance that we might be getting another Joker and fans believe there is the perfect actor ready to play that iconic role.
Best of all, the actor, who has been deemed the perfect choice by fans, has said that playing the Joker would be a dream. The actor in question is the brilliant David Dastmalchian.

When speaking to Collider, Dastmalchian said: “I know we’re just kidding around here, butI would love it. I think some people go ‘Hamlet is my life’s quest,’ or ‘Willy Loman is my life’s quest’.”
“Getting to put on the makeup of the Clown Prince of Crime at some point in my lifetime is up there next to one of my greatest career dreams, which is to be an enemy of James Bond,” he continued.
David Dastmalchian is no stranger to playing DC villains, having played new character Dwight Pollard in the Gotham TV series as well as one of Joker’s unnamed thugs in The Dark Knight.
More notably, he also played Polka-Dot Man in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad and he’s also portrayed Calender Man in various DC animations.
“LET HIM COOK,” exclaimed Twitter user EvanAboutCinema.

“He’d be such a good Joker,” said AviSchiffmann.
“That would be quite inspired casting. He is great in everything he does,” replied tinivule.
It remains to be seen whether David Dastmalchian would be cast as a future Joker but already having connections with DC and James Gunn, perhaps he might stand a better chance than most. Only time will tell.
Hopefully, we’ll get to see a new Joker in the upcoming DCU movie Batman: The Brave and The Bold, whenever that might be released.
