Hot on the heels of relaunching the DC Bullet (last year, so not that hot on the heels), DC Comics is also bringing corner boxes back, for the “Summer of Superman” line of comics.

Designed by Dan Mora, who can’t stop, won’t stop, the corner boxes are in the mode of the classic look of DC’s covers and will feature little versions of Superman, Superboy, Supergirl and Krypto, on their respective comic books.

The new corner boxes will first appear on the following titles:

Supergirl #1 (May 14)
Superman Unlimited #1 (May 21)
Superman #26 (May 28)
Action Comics #1087 (June 11)
Krypto: The Last Dog of Krypton #1 (June 18)

In case you’re curious, while Superboy and Supergirl were all breaking metal chains, and Krypto is breaking a metal leash, Superman is breaking Kryptonite chains, and “futuristic dark energy chains.”

This is all part of the aforementioned Summer of Superman, which kicks off on Friday, April 18, aka the anniversary of the publication of Action Comics #1. This weekend, participating retailers will have new editions of All-Star Superman, Superman Unchained, Superman for All Seasons, and more titles.

You can check out what the new corner boxes will look like on Superman Unlimited #1 and Supergirl #1, below:
