These latest images have sparked speculation among fans, who believe that a notable detail in the pictures might suggest the potential inclusion of a cherished character from DC Comics.

DCU Head James Gunn recently took to Instagram to share new images highlighting the diverse cast of supernatural inmates from the upcoming Creature Commandos. These photos offer a closer look at Sean Gunn’s GI Robot, a World War II-era automaton, alongside his allies from the DC Universe’s WWII unit known as Easy Company. Although the other two figures accompanying GI Robot are not explicitly named, speculation is already rife among fans. Many believe that the taller soldier in the photo, who appears to be cradling his own arm, could be Sergeant Frank Rock, a.k.a. Sgt. Rock the iconic hero from DC’s war comics due to the character’s distinctive silhouette. This revelation has only heightened excitement and curiosity about how this classic DC WWII hero might integrate into Gunn’s broader plans for the DC Universe.

Sgt. Rock is the commanding officer of Easy Company, a renowned World War II infantry unit featured in DC Comics. First introduced by Bob Haney and Ross Andru in 1959’s “Our Army at War” #81, Easy Company is known for its diverse and highly skilled members, each assigned a unique nickname to obscure their civilian identities during battle. Despite the intriguing notion, GI Robot has never been depicted as a member of Easy Company in previous comics or DC adaptations. However, like the members of Easy Company, GI Robot shares a common ground: he also fought in World War II, undertaking perilous missions deemed too dangerous for human soldiers to handle.

The prospect of Sgt. Rock joining James Gunn’s DCU would be exciting enough on its own, but the speculation intensifies with a recent rumor that Luca Guadagnino may direct a Sgt. Rock movie. This rumor, originating from Nexus Point News, suggests that Guadagnino, known for his work on Challengers and Queer, is reportedly in talks to helm the project for Warner Bros. While neither Warner Bros. nor any major trade outlets have confirmed this, the rumor gains more traction, especially with the likelihood of Sgt. Rock and the Easy Company making an appearance in the upcoming Creature Commandos series.

Sgt. Rock has an intriguing connection to the Creature Commandos, having crossed paths with them in their previous animated debut, the 2014 DC Nation: Creature Commandos miniseries.
