On today’s podcast, we’re taking a look at some of the highlights from DC Comics’ July 2025 solicits, including the Summer of Superman, the Fall of Batman, and more.

This is Comic Book Club News for April 21, 2025.

July might be the peak of the Summer of Superman, but the Gotham City Sirens are BACK. Just like last Summer, Leah Williams will write a five-issue, weekly event throughout the month of July. Titled Gotham City Sirens: Unfit for Orbit, it will replace Poison Ivy, Catwoman, and Harley Quinn for the month, and pit the trio against Despero in an outer space-themed nightclub.

Over in the Absolute Universe, Batman fights Bane in Absolute Batman #10, in Absolute Superman #9 it seems like Supes might join the bad guys, and in Absolute Wonder Woman #10, Diana continues to try to navigate the maze. Is there a minotaur on her tail? Maybe!

Okay, fine, let’s talk Superman. The literally giant-sized Superman Treasury 2025 #1 is written by Dan Jurgens and Bruno Redondo, and is twice as big as a usual comic book. Superman Unlimited by Dan Slott heats up as Superman takes on the Toyman, and Jimmy Olsen moves to Gotham City. And Superman #28 finds Darkseid’s Legion of Super-Heroes attacking the main DC universe.

Speaking of which, who is the Quantum Quorum? The trio seems to be the Time Trapper, Gorilla Grodd, and a third character, all teasing the next universe-ending event from DC. They’ll pop up in Justice League Unlimited #9, as well as the Justice League: Dark Tomorrow Special #1, which teams up Batman Beyond, Gold Beetle, and Helena Wayne in a sort of “Legends of Tomorrow” situation, written by Mark Waid and Marc Guggenheim, for two, two, two times the Marks.

Wonder Woman #23 picks up on that dangling plot line involving the maniacal Mouseman, while Trinity #2 sends Diana’s daughter back in time to find the bat-corgi. And Titans 2025 Annual is written and drawn by Phil Jimenez, and is all about Donna Troy.

Supergirl #3 teams up Kara and Lena Luthor, and introduces someone named Satan Girl. Krypto meets Lex Luthor in Krypto: Last Dog of Krypton #2. Zatanna #6 wraps up the series by Jamal Campbell. Batman: The Last Halloween #8 features art by the excellent Becky Cloonan. New History of the DC Universe #2 covers all the way from Superman arriving on Earth as a baby, through Crisis on Infinite Earths. DC x Sonic The Hedgehog concludes with issue #5. And the monthly, as usual, pun-heavy anthology hits with DC’s Kal-El-Fornia Love #1.

For Comic Book Club News, I’m Alex Zalben. And they say Kal-El-Fornia knows how to party.
