A Rocksteady Batman Beyond game that follows Arkhamverse lore would have a neat hurdle to cross when it comes to Batman: Arkham Knight’s story.
Ahead of this release, FunPlus shared some behind-the-scenes DC: Dark Legion footage, which Game Rant can now exclusively reveal. The two-minute video offers a look at the developer’s audio studio, documenting how some of the many lines for DC: Dark Legion characters were recorded.
J.P. Karliak Is DC: Dark Legion’s Joker
The footage opens with American actor John Paul “J.P.” Karliak, who voices the Joker in the upcoming strategy game. Karliak has already played the Joker in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, but his DC: Dark Legion role will seemingly have him portray a different version of the character. His other recent voice acting credits include minor roles in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, as well as Star Trek: Resurgence, where he voiced Chovak.
DC: Dark Legion Showcases Mark Whitten’s the Flash and Jan Johns’s Harley Quinn
After showing Karliak performing a few Joker lines, FunPlus’s BTS video cuts to Mark Whitten, who plays the Flash in the upcoming game. His one-liners are delivered at a rapid pace, aligning with the Flash’s defining characteristic. DC: Dark Legion will mark Whitten’s third video game voice acting credit in 2025, after Dynasty Warriors: Origins and Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, where he played Zhang Liao and Daisaku Minami, respectively. The video also provides a brief glimpse of Jan Johns voicing Harley Quinn. Prior to DC: Dark Legion, the American actress played Commander Jillian Toft in Starfield and portrayed a wide variety of characters—including Lucy West, Sierra Petrovita, Enola Walker, and Scribe Haylen—in all of Bethesda’s Fallout games.
Roger Craig Smith Plays 2 Batman Characters in DC: Dark Legion
The BTS video ends with some recording booth footage of Roger Craig Smith, who’s first seen playing Batman. His performance then transitions to the Batman Who Laughs, a much newer DC character created by Scott Snyder, who envisioned him as a fusion of Bruce Wayne’s abilities and the Joker’s insanity. While DC: Dark Legion will mark Smith’s first portrayal of the Batman Who Laughs, he has already played Bruce Wayne in the 2024 VR game Batman: Arkham Shadow.
