Batman: Hush is widely regarded as a masterpiece of modern comics. As such, fans were thrilled when writer Jeph Loeb and artist Jim Lee announced a sequel was in the works in late 2024. Now, DC Comics has released the first look at that sequel, confirming its title as Batman: Hush 2.

Released across 12 issues in 2002-2003, the original Hush was a slow-boiling mystery. The plot found the Dark Knight facing a strange series of crimes, seemingly perpetrated by a new mastermind. Hush had a permanent effect on the mythology of Batman, as Bruce Wayne revealed his secret identity to Catwoman and made an honest attempt at romancing her. It also set the stage for the resurrection of Jason Todd.

The story of Batman: Hush 2 is still under wraps. Little has been revealed beyond it starting with Batman #158 and the first chapter being subtitled “Prelude: The Promise”. Beyond that, it is presumed it will also feature the return of the villain Hush.

The return of Jim Lee to a monthly comic would be reason enough for Batman: Hush 2 to be noteworthy. However, Lee is also producing multiple variant covers for the series, with inker Scott Williams and colorist Alex Sinclair. In addition, a number of other legendary artists are creating covers for the first issue. This includes J. Scott Campbell and Sean Gordon Murphy, whose final contributions were not released as part of DC’s initial announcement. However, Lee’s covers were released in full, along with those covers created by Dan Mora, Gabriele Dell’otto, Lee Bermejo and Simone Di Meo. There will also be uncolored and wraparound variants of the Jim Lee covers, with the rarest editions being autographed by Lee and Loeb.
