The Trinity of Evil achieve total domination over Earth’s super-powered protectors! But what of the heroes NOT of this Earth? Just as Kal-El of Krypton before him, J’onn J’onzz of Mars has felt the devastating effects of Waller’s Task Force VII fighters as they continue their mission of siphoning metahuman power across the globe…but hope glimmers even in the face of the ghastly Global Guardian, and a new generation of fighters from every corner of the world have joined forces to rise up! It’s the finale of Task Force VII as we near the grand finale of the epic Absolute Power event!

The solicited information reveals a “new generation of heroes” and the cover hints at a new team forming between some unlikely allies. Freedom Beast, Mirror Master, Ghost-Maker, and Super-Man, the Superman of China, stand united while the Global Guardian looms over the four of them with weapons already drawn.

Absolute Power is Causing a New Team of Heroes and Villains to Form

Amanda Waller has been working for months for one singular purpose: To end the ‘threat’ of metahumans on Earth. After securing her position as the head of the Bureau of Sovereignty and acquiring powerful assets like the Brainiac Queen, Failsafe, and an entire battalion of Amazos, Waller finally launched her grand plan. She used the Queen to pump out dozens of AI-generated videos to draw the superhumans out into public. Once the heroes fell for Waller’s plan, she unleashed Task Force VII onto the world, and the Amazos drained nearly every superhero in the DC Universe of their powers.

In a normal situation, there’s virtually no reason why Freedom Beast, Super-Man, Ghost-Maker, and Mirror Master would be grouped together. The first three have never worked together in any capacity and the last is a villain who, very recently, has been attacking the Flash Family yet again. But dire times like this often bring unlikely crews together. Maybe these four are some of the last few who have been able to escape Task Force VII’s clutches. Whatever the case, Absolute Power could just be the start of an unexpected, yet intriguing, new team in the DC Universe.

Will DC’s Odd New Team Stick Together Post-Absolute Power?

It’s hard to say what the DC Universe’s vibe is going to be like after Absolute Power winds down. However, it is known that the larger hero community is going to reassess things and rebuild the Justice League bigger and better than it was before. It’s not crazy to imagine that this new crew could wind up staying together. Stranger things have happened after all. While there’s no clear indication as to what the future holds for the DC Universe, there’s a good chance fans are about to get a hell of an interesting team thanks to Absolute Power.

Absolute Power: Task Force VII #7 is available on September 25th from DC Comics.
