One of the DC Universe’s oldest infernal heroes has just been cut down to size by the latest holiday horror.
With the threat of the menacing Silent Knight and his army of monsters growing by the minute, the heroes of Batman/Santa Claus: Silent Knight Returns #2 are forced to turn to any and all supernaturally inclined allies they can find for help. Fortunately, one in particular doesn’t just know of the Silent Knight, but served with him personally when they were both knights in King Arthur’s Court. Tragically, there was nothing Jason Blood could do at the time to prevent the brave Sir Brian from falling to the forces of darkness, nor is there anything anyone else can do to save Jason Blood once the Silent Knight catches up with him.

DC’s original, pre-Crisis Jason Blood made his comic book debut back in the pages of 1972’s The Demon #1 by Jack Kirby. Born in the Middle Ages, Jason enjoyed a simple enough life with his wife and children until the fateful night he was chosen by the wizard Merlin to serve as the human host to the demon Etrigan. This kicked off a centuries-long bond that forever altered the course of Jason’s life. Throughout the ages, both Jason and Etrigan have attempted to make up for their past crimes and manipulations as best they can, albeit in between bouts of murderous rage and gut-wrenching tragedy.
Rather than a simple man of his era, the modern iteration of Jason Blood was a knight in service to King Arthur as well as a scribe in service to Merlin. When Camelot was on the verge of being lost to the villainous Morgaine le Fey, Merlin turned to the forces of Hell in the hopes of staving off the impending threat. This resulted in Etrigan being unleashed, who was then bound to Jason Blood. As explained in Batman/Santa Claus: Silent Knight Returns #2, Jason was there when his fellow knight Sir Brian was tempted to venture into the supernatural fog that enveloped the Hollow Kingdom, which in turn bequeathed him a cursed suit of armor that transformed him into the monstrous Silent Knight.

Bruce Wayne Is Turning Back His Biological Clock – and He’s Already a Stronger Batman Because of It
Batman has just uncovered a new way to turn back his own biological clock, and it has nothing to do with DC’s fabled Lazarus Pits.
Batman/Santa Claus: Silent Knight Returns serves as a followup series to the original Batman/Santa Claus: Silent Knight, which brought the surprising eponymous duo together alongside a whole host of iconic DC Comics superheroes. In this version of Santa’s story, he was originally the Woodsman, a powerful and kind warrior who hunted monsters and sealed them away where they could never harm humanity again. Eventually, the Woodsman became close friends with the mischievous yet largely harmless Krampus. In the modern era, Krampus was possessed by vengeful spirits from the Phantom Zone, who used him to wreak havoc across the globe.
