Wonder Woman has been thriving in DC Comics lately, thanks to Tom King’s ongoing run and the fan-favorite, best-selling Absolute Wonder Woman title by Kelly Thompson. But despite all the recent Amazon content, legendary writer Greg Rucka’s admission that he wants to return to the character has fans more excited than ever. Now, all that’s left is for DC to make it official.

Multi-time Eisner Award-winner Greg Rucka recently participated in an “Ask Me Anything” with League of Comic Geeks, where fans were invited to post questions for the acclaimed writer to answer. The discussion covered Rucka’s expansive catalog, including Lazarus, The Forged, Black Magick, The Old Guard, Wonder Woman, and more.

One fan asked, “If you could write for Wonder Woman again, would you do it???” Rucka gave a strong affirmative, something that will undoubtedly delight many fans, especially as he elaborated a bit more on his vision.

Rucka responded to the question about his desire to return to Wonder Woman with a resounding, “In a hot second, absolutely. I love Diana, there are so many stories I didn’t get to tell with her. I know it’s sometimes considered not the best idea to return to a title, but… yeah, if called, I would serve, without doubt.” His enthusiasm is contagious, as it’s always refreshing to see fan-favorite writers excited and passionate about the characters they write. It’s also clear that Rucka has many ideas for Wonder Woman, suggesting that he has some exciting stories up his sleeve for her.

Both Rucka and fans have expressed eagerness for his return to Wonder Woman. Now, all that’s needed is for DC to call upon him. Currently, Tom King is still deep into his take on the Amazon Princess, with no clear end in sight. However, since no announcement has been made regarding the creative team after King’s run, there’s hope that Rucka could be the one to take the reins once King finishes. This is something most fans would undoubtedly welcome.
