Absolute Power was unquestionably one of the biggest DC Comics events of the last few years. It was a storyline that had been building since Justice League: No Justice, just after the original Dark Nights: Metal storyline. In Absolute Power, Amanda Waller found a way to drain the entire superhero community of their powers, putting them inside her own custom Amazo robots. The end of the story saw those Amazo robots destroyed, and the heroes regained their powers, but with one small change.
While the hero community did their best, not every power returned to the right person. Some superpowers switched to other heroes, while others were found inside innocent civilians. This means several superheroes are walking around with completely different powers, and currently, there’s no way to switch them back. It can all be confusing for characters inside the DC Universe and for fans reading their adventures.

Ice Might Have Trouble Adjusting To Her New Powers
Ice Now Wields Fire’s Pyrokinetic Abilities
While she’s one of Justice League’s B-List heroes, Ice has spent years operating as a member of the League. More recently, she and Fire attempted to settle down in Smallville and build a different life. Of course, Amanda Waller’s actions during Absolute Power forced them and others back into action. As a result, Ice lost her traditional powers and now has Fire’s Pyrokinesis instead.
Given Tora’s powers have been with her since childhood, dealing with an entirely new powerset is doubtlessly alienating for her. So far, DC hasn’t shown her in any major comic dealing with the fallout. However, with Justice League Unlimited using every hero in the DC Universe, it might not be long before fans see her with these new powers.

Fire Is Known For Dealing With Massive Changes
Fire Now Wields Her Partner Ice’s Cryokinesis
Beatriz da Costa is used to dealing with change. Her life has been about change, with her starting as a model only to become a government agent before finally settling into the world of superheroes. Her fiery powers have aided several incarnations of the Justice League, but in the aftermath of Absolute Power, she’s wound up with her partner Ice’s cryokinesis.

Presumably, Fire will learn to adjust, though she might need a different name for a while. That said, she hasn’t appeared in any comics so far. Perhaps Ryan Choi and Ray Palmer’s Atom Project can help her swap powers back before things get too hectic.

Black Canary Might Already Have Found A Way To A Solution
Black Canary has an unknown hero’s heat vision powers.
One of the best fighters in the Justice League, Black Canary was at the heart of trying to stop Amanda Waller during Absolute Power. Unlike other heroes, she even had a vested interest in stopping Amanda, as her partner, Oliver Queen, had seemingly betrayed the hero community. At the end of Absolute Power, Dinah seemed to have lost her sonic powers and, in exchange, gained someone’s heat vision powers.
However, how Dinah adjusts to her new powers remains to be seen. In the latest DC All In arc for Birds of Prey, Dinah still had her Canary Cry, relying on it heavily to save a collection of captured Amazons. Whether they’ll tell the story of how she got her powers back or ignore it entirely remains to be seen.

Aquaman At Least Has Someone To Help Him Learn His New Powers
Aquaman Wields His Wife Mera’s Control of Water
Being the King of the Seven Seas has never been easy, but it gets even harder when the surface world steals away one’s powers. Arthur fought alongside the rest of the Justice League to stop Amanda Waller’s schemes, but that didn’t mean he got all his powers back. Instead, he has to deal with a new but familiar ability: his wife Mera’s hydrokinesis.

If nothing else, Aquaman at least has Mera around to help him train to use his new abilities. Better yet, Mera has admitted that he’s quite gifted with his powers, already surpassing her in terms of stamina using them, if not skill. Still, being without his natural connection to aquatic life is unnatural for him. Because his powers are unique to him, it’s only a matter of time before Arthur regains what belongs to him.

Plastic Man Has Experienced A Massive Downgrade
Plastic Man has gained the ability to become invisible
Plastic Man spent years as a member of the Justice League, where people gradually learned he was one of the most powerful superheroes, though he only had one power. These days, he spends most of his time working solo and occasionally teaming up with Mr. Terrific and the Terrifics to go on some fun science adventures. However, Plastic Man is another victim of Absolute Power’s events, as the hero lost his elasticity powers.
These days, Plastic Man wields the ability to go invisible, attained from an unknown superhero. While his adventures aren’t normally seen every month, DC seems unlikely to forget about him. He’s been a long-time fan-favorite, and with the Justice League now welcoming all heroes, it’s only a matter of time before he appears again.

Captain Atom Has Grown More Powerful Than Ever Thanks To The Atom Project
Captain Atom Gained Multiple New Powersets At Once
Captain Atom has always been one of the hardest superheroes to predict. His incredible nuclear powers make him a rival for Superman, but whether he’s more loyal to the military or the Justice League is frequently unclear. Still, following Absolute Power, he seemed to become a non-issue, losing his powers and becoming a normal civilian. Yet the mini-series Justice League: The Atom Project has followed up on what happened to Nathaniel Adam after losing his powers.

Since DC acquired him from Charlton Comics, Captain Atom has been a powerhouse in the DCU with many great appearances alongside the Justice League.
Working with Ryan Choi and Ray Palmer, Adam began trying to regain his powers in the “Atom Project.” Eventually, the project became a success, but at a cost. Adam not only regained his powers but also took the powers of other Atom Project members, transforming into someone vastly more powerful than before. Worse, he seems to have decided the Justice League can’t be trusted with all his new abilities.
Anissa Can Now Generate Massive Levels of Energy
Anissa Pierce used to be one of the more reliable heroes of the new generation, living up to being the daughter of one of DC’s most iconic black heroes. As the hero Thunder, she had control of her density, allowing her a degree of invulnerability and super strength. She worked with the Outsiders but also enjoyed using her powers to aid others. The events of Absolute Power have changed her, however.
The new Black Lightning mini-series followed up on what’s happened to Anissa since gaining new powers. Now, she seems to generate massive amounts of energy that terrifies her and the Justice League. Most of the time, she wears a power band to keep her powers suppressed. In emergencies, she has used them to help others, but mostly, she just wants to return to a civilian’s life.

Lois Lane Has Gone From A Civilian To Becoming A Superhero Like Her Husband
Lois Lane seems to have taken Zod’s Kryptonian powers.
Lois Lane might be the most well-known figure who is dealing with a sudden case of new powers. During Absolute Power, she tried suiting up in Lex Luthor’s armor to help fight against Amanda Waller’s goons. Before she got very far, she was knocked out in the armor and woke up with superpowers.
She seems to have powers roughly equal to the average Kryptonian, and her sense of justice led to her immediately becoming a superhero. As a human, she can’t absorb solar energy like Superman or other Kryptonians can, so her powers will eventually run out. However, she intends to help as many people as possible until they do. She’s also having quite a bit of fun enjoying the world like her husband does. That said, the Superwoman Special implies she got her powers from General Zod, so this might become a problem sooner rather than later.
