While Peacemaker‘s jab at Green Arrow was one of the funniest moments of the John Cena-led show, some people didn’t enjoy it – first among them Arrow actor Stephen Amell. Thankfully, DC is now balancing the scales, as Oliver Queen gets the better of his vigilante rival.
After the failure of Amanda Waller’s bid for absolute power over the DC Universe, her forces have been scattered and are in the process of being hunted down. One of her major lieutenants was Peacemaker and his sidekick Peacewrecker. With Waller’s fall from grace, Peacemaker and Peacewrecker attempt to make their escape, only to be stopped by Green Arrow, as seen in a preview of Green Arrow #17 by Joshua Williamson and Chris Condon.
Not only is it immensely satisfying to see Green Arrow take down Peacemaker, but the scene may come as a relief to Stephen Amell, who has expressed his distaste for an especially mean joke that was made during the Peacemaker TV show. Maybe, now that Ollie has made Peacemaker cry out for his mommy, he can rest easy seeing the character he played for so long finally get revenge.
Why Peacemaker’s Green Arrow Diss Fits DC Comics Canon
Peacemaker confirmed Green Arrow’s DCEU existence with an off-color insult, which is surprisingly in line with Oliver Queen’s love life in the comics.
Green Arrow Finally Humiliates Peacemaker

The CW has had a lot of DC-related shows over the years, including Smallville, Arrow, The Flash, Black Lightning, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, and several others. For a long time, the CW was the face of DC on television, and they certainly deserve praise and recognition for that. Unfortunately, the CW is also infamous for having pretty low budgets for its TV shows. This has led to the Arrowverse being mocked several times, and one joke in Peacemaker was over the line for Stephen Amell.
Peacemaker depicted its titular hero as someone who was essentially a man-child who had to learn to grow up over the course of the show. A major element of his character is not only how immature he is, but how insecure he is as well. Peacemaker desperately wants to be a hero but doesn’t really know how. There are several comments that he throws out that diminish other heroes, including the likes of Superman and Batman. But the punchline for the gag is when Peacemaker takes aim at Green Arrow and claims that “that dude goes to Brony conventions dressed as the back half of Twilight Sparkle,“ only for the other characters to confirm that out of all Peacemaker’s claims about the sex lives of DC’s superheroes, that one is actually true.
One person who didn’t approve of the gag was Arrow actor Stephen Amell, who stated in an interview with Chris Van Vliet that,“I didn’t *****ing appreciate that at all. … our show was kind of treated like ****.” Amell explains that he’s irritated at James Gunn for what he sees as a shot at the CW show, pointing out that it was the latest in a pattern of disrespect from DC’s other properties towards its CW offerings.
Green Arrow’s Revenge Is Incredibly Satisfying
After Being Forced to Play Villain, Ollie Is Unleashed
It’s incredibly common for DC’s comics to make fun of the publisher’s heroes and other media, but in this case Green Arrow chasing down Peacemaker actually gives Ollie North fans some relief from the antihero’s mockery of the Emerald Archer. For months, Ollie has been working for Amanda Waller’s regime, waiting to betray her and help out his superhero allies. Now, as Waller’s plans fall apart, it’s satisfying to see Green Arrow terrorize the bullies and killers he’s been forced to call his co-workers.
Hopefully, Green Arrow fans can enjoy this Peacemaker moment while it lasts, because the lives of superheroes are founded on struggle, and Ollie North will be on the back foot once again soon enough.
