The following contains major spoilers for Green Lantern #15, on sale now from DC Comics.

One of DC’s most iconic characters has found the hero within all over again thanks to Amanda Waller’s Absolute Power.

“Dogfight” by writer Jeremy Adams and artist Fernando Pasarin finds Hal Jordan in a fight for his life against Amanda Waller’s goons, only to be carried away by the Amazo android, Jadestone. Surprisingly, Jadestone has developed a sense of morality that is entirely its own thanks to having absorbed the powers of numerous Green Lanterns. Even more surprising, even Carol Ferris, the Star Sapphire herself, has decided to join in the fight as a hero, and it is hard to imagine she will ever back down from it.

Although Carol Ferris isn’t the first DC Comics character to claim the mantle of Star Sapphire, she is the most well-known. First introduced in John Broome and Gil Kane’s story, “Green Lantern: Secret of the Flaming Spear” from the pages of 1959’s Showcase #59, Carol Ferris was handed the reins of Ferris Aircraft Company by her father, Carl. This put her in a prime position to meet and eventually fall in love with Hal Jordan. Eventually, Carol was chosen to serve as the queen of the alien warriors known as the Zamarons, who bequeathed to her the power of the Star Sapphire Gem.

In the years since, Carol has served as an enemy, ally, and lover to Hal Jordan, all while carving out her own unique legacy in the DC Universe. Most recently, the modern incarnation of the character left her fiancée, Allen Broome, so that she could help Hal Jordan fight against Amanda Waller’s anti-superhero army. In doing so, Carol unwittingly unleashed a whole new kind of power from within Broome, kicking off his transformation into the haunting villain known as Sorrow.

DC vs. Vampire Series Debuts the Perfect Green Lantern

The world of DC vs. Vampires introduces the one Green Lantern who might be able to save everyone — and he is perfect.

Absolute Power has seen Hal and countless other heroes and villains fall to Amanda Waller’s ever-expanding army. With the help of the former Amazo android, Failsafe, Waller created six others just like for Task Force VII. These Amazos have stolen away the powers of the world’s greatest heroes, forming a twisted Justice League unto themselves. Thankfully, each of these Amazos has been affected by the powers they stole. While the likes of Last Son have been seemingly infected by random strings of code, others such as Jadestone have been put through personal crises of morality due to the heroic influence they absorbed along with the powers that they stole away for themselves.
