In times long past, the mystic Guardians of the Universe learned how to tap the power of the emotional spectrum. They forged great rings and batteries, which drew upon the collective willpower of all sentient life. These were used to arm the greatest peacekeeping body in history, the Green Lantern Corps. Now, a new team stands ready to take on the task of defending the universe, in the wake of unprecedented cosmic corruption and chaos.
Written by Jeremy Adams and Morgan Hampton, with art by Fernando Pasarin, Green Lantern Corps #1 opens in media res. Criminals, like the slave-trader Kanjar Ro, have become bolder in recent months, and laid waste to the space highways. Thankfully, there are beings like veteran Lantern John Stewart, who stand ready to shine a righteous light into dark places.
The first four pages of Green Lantern Corps #1 may be viewed below.
The new series opens at a comparatively critical juncture in the team’s history. Their ranks were decimated following the corruption of the United Planets government. Thankfully, the old guard stood firm and the Guardians returned. However, the team faces an uphill battle in restoring order to the universe.
Besides the common clay of criminals, the Green Lantern Corps face a cosmic crisis. The emotional spectrum has grown unstable, with various beings tapping its energies without a power ring or battery. Additionally, new villains are manifesting powers based on emotions outside the core seven curated by the Corps. This includes the villain Sorrow, who has weaponized his sadness and holds a grudge against the hero Hal Jordan. The end result is multiple threats that are altogether sure to test the will of the newly reformed Corps.
Green Lantern Corps #1 arrives in comic shops everywhere on February 12, 2025.
