A TikTok user shared their amazing cosplay of the Batman Who Laughs. While the DC Universe has many villainous alternate versions of its heroes, the Batman Who Laughs is one of the most popular. Created by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo in 2017, the character headlined his own miniseries in 2019. He is the Earth-22 Batman who was transformed by the Joker and turned his son Damian into a mini-Joker, akin to Tim Drake’s transformation in Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker. The Batman Who Laughs became so popular, he spurred the creation of many similar variants of other DC characters.

Naturally, this level of popularity lends itself to fan art and cosplay. User @batmanwholaughs666 posted their incredibly active cosplay to TikTok, spawning a lot of excited comments from other users.

In the video, the user showcases his costume with a few different poses cut together, allowing the different elements to be displayed. This includes the Batman Who Laughs’ dark metal visor, which allows him to see people’s deepest, darkest fears and desires and tethers him to the Dark Universe. @batmanwholaughs666 is an active cosplayer, who has also cosplayed Robin in both normal and Jokerized forms.

What The Batman Who Laughs Cosplay Means For DC

If fan response to the cosplay is anything to go off of, the Batman Who Laughs has a built-in audience for a project in other media. The character is so popular that it would make sense to produce a film or series around him. While the cosplay would drive a push for a live-action adaptation, he could also appear in animated form, allowing for more creative freedom visually on the aesthetic of the Dark Universe.

Given the character’s prevalence even 5 years after his miniseries, the Batman Who Laughs would be a good fit for one of DC’s alternate universe productions.

Our Take On The Batman Who Laughs Cosplay

While the Batman Who Laughs doesn’t exactly have the mainstream appeal necessary for a big-budget blockbuster, he is a relevant and well-liked character. Crafting a project around him as the antagonist would tap into the subset of DC fans who want a darker, more grim Batman story. Moreover, since DC Studios also does animated projects, they could test the waters by doing a smaller production and possibly utilizing the character in a live-action setting if he proves popular. Either way, the Batman Who Laughs would certainly be a thrilling addition to the DCU.
