Over the years, Fortnite has become a hub for superhero crossovers. Naturally, developer Epic Games has continued to partner with two of the most popular comic book brands, Marvel and DC. Fortnite has brought beloved characters from both franchises to the battle royale, and there is no sign of stopping.

Recently, Fortnite featured an entire season centered around Marvel. Last year’s Absolute Doom season was focused around Marvel supervillain Doctor Doom and his capture of The Fantastic Four. While Fortnite has featured both Marvel and DC crossovers, the former has had more significant collaborations. If DC ever got the same treatment as Marvel and received its own season focused on its characters, diving into DC’s more obscure waters could be an exciting change of pace.

DC’s Darker Characters Could Be the Key to a Unique Season

Constantine

Zatanna

Swamp Thing

Deadman

Etrigan

Doctor Fate

Madame Xanadu

The members of Justice League Dark remain some of DC’s most compelling characters. What makes this series so fascinating is that it isn’t afraid to explore a darker, more supernatural side that makes it a special piece of DC lore. Magic, monsters, demons, and all corners of the supernatural play a role in the story of Justice League Dark comics, and it could present Fortnite with a treasure trove of unique content.

Fortnite has featured some of DC’s biggest stars, but embracing the stranger aspects of the canon could be the best way to set it apart from the game’s numerous Marvel events. The Justice League Dark franchise has its own strong roster of characters, but it also has a perfect Fortnite event that could be the perfect stage for such a collaboration to come to fruition.

Justice League Dark was created by Peter Milligan and premiered on September 28, 2011.

Justice League Dark Could Shake Up Fortnitemares

As Fortnite‘s yearly Halloween event, Fortnitemares might be the best opportunity for DC to have a standout season. Fortnitemares has featured plenty of big crossovers, but Justice League Dark could be something for both horror and comic book fans to enjoy. A swampy area of the map where Swamp Thing resides or getting to solve occult mysteries alongside Constantine has the potential to be one of the most successful Fortnitemares crossovers yet. A touch of DC within a horror setting might be the best way for the comic book brand to be seen in an all-new light. DC and Marvel are often pitted against one another, but a crossover centered around the former’s spookier side is a great way to highlight what makes it unique.

Fortnite and DC Could Have Plenty of Crossover Opportunities in the Near Future

Superman is scheduled to hit theaters on July 11, 2025.

Superman marks the first major entry in James Gunn’s DC Universe.

The upcoming Superman reboot may not be the first project in Gunn’s universe, but it’s going to be the ultimate test in seeing if this franchise revamp is destined for success. Last year’s animated series Creature Commandos served as an appetizer for what’s to come. In addition to the Justice League Dark series, Creature Commandos could join in on a spooky DC-centric event, too, but only time will tell.

As Gunn’s cinematic universe begins to unfold, it will be interesting to see how it influences the gaming landscape. Gunn recently confirmed that he has met with WB-owned developers NetherRealm Studios and Rocksteady, who have a history of strong DC-based games. Between possible collaborations with them and potential Fortnite crossovers, there will hopefully be some exciting under-used DC characters getting a long-deserved moment to shine.
