With rumors floating around that Chris Pratt is joining the DC Universe, James Gunn sets the record straight on the latest rumblings about the Marvel Cinematic Universe actor. Several Chapter 1, “Gods and Monsters” movies and TV shows are in the works at DC Studios that will help create the new DC Universe. While several actors have already been cast in iconic roles, there are still many characters left to bring into the franchise.

As Gunn continues to keep the DC Universe audience updated through his social media accounts, a fan asked if the rumors about Pratt were true, which led to the DC Studios co-CEO saying, “I don’t even know what rumor you’re talking about.” Once another fan explained that the rumor was about Gunn and Pratt having talks about the actor joining the DC Universe franchise, the filmmaker said the following:

He’s a close friend. We talk about that all the time.

DCU Popular Casting Choice’s Recent Comments Make Chris Pratt’s DC Role More Possible

Chris Pratt previously commented on playing the perfect DCU hero for him, and after a recent update, his casting becomes even more likely.

Who Chris Pratt Could Play In The DC Universe

While time will tell if Pratt ever joins the DC Universe, it begs the question of who he could actually play in Gunn’s upcoming superhero continuity. One of the popular fan castings for Pratt in the DC Universe is to see him as Michael Jon Carter, a.k.a. Booster Gold, as the character has his own DC Universe show in development at DC Studios. Seeing Pratt as the DC Universe’s Booster Gold would allow the actor to rely on his comedic abilities while also playing a troubled hero.

Gunn is known for allowing smaller characters from the comics to shine in live-action and become a bigger name to the general audience, which was the case with the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. If Gunn wanted to do that again for Pratt after playing Star-Lord, he could cast the Peter Quill actor as Adam Strange, who has so far only been used in live-action once through the Krypton TV show. While Adam has similarities to Star-Lord, he is still unique enough as a character that it wouldn’t feel too much of a repeat for Pratt.

Whoever Pratt gets cast as in the DC Universe, it will be fascinating to see how he fits into this franchise in comparison to the MCU. It wouldn’t be shocking if Pratt comes back as Star-Lord a few more times before he shows up in the DC Universe, allowing him to wrap up his time in the MCU before doing another superhero gig. But for now, the world will have to wait and see if Pratt ever lands a role in the DC Universe.

DC Universe

The DC Universe is one of the biggest comic book franchises and often competes with Marvel. DC Comics started as National Allied Publications, founded by Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson in 1935. Since then, the franchise has exploded with thousands of comic books, movies, TV shows, and video games. 2013 marked the beginning of the most recent iteration of the superheroes, with Zack Snyder introducing Henry Cavill as Superman. After several movies with mixed reviews, DC underwent a soft reboot under the helm of James Gunn and Peter Safran.
