James Gunn Has No Jurisdiction Over DC Comics or Absolute Batman Logo

James Gunn, talking about the new Absolute Batman logo, posted on Threads, “I have no jurisdiction over the comics!”
A fan criticizes the new logo, prompting a direct response from James Gunn.
Jim Lee’s version of Absolute Batman features a distinctive Bat axe, indicating his approval of the design.
The Absolute Batman logo is exclusive to the comic, not impacting the traditional Batman branding.
Over on Threads, self-confessed fan of “West Ham and Haverhill Rovers, also tv and cinema, especially sci fi including Dr Who and DC”, Stuart Dillon posted an appeal to DC Films studio head James Gunn regarding the look of the new Absolute Batman comic, specifically the logo, formed form chest body armour and spikes, creating an “accidental” bat. He wrote “@jamesgunn as a fan of Batman i beg you please change the Batman logo, it looks awful, I love the Superman one.” While he might not have expected a reply, he got one. James Gunn told him on Threads, “I have no jurisdiction over the comics!”
So that settles that, Stuart, you should try posting to DC Comics Publisher Jim Lee. Who, in his own version of the cover of Absolute Batman #1, has turned the chest armor into a Bat axe? So he probably rather likes it.
But what I might say is that this logo is just for the Absolute Batman comic, and is intended to be something different, a very different vibe to the standard Batman comic books, which will still all be using the old logos. So, no need to fret too much, Stuart! And yes, you got a response from James Gunn himself! Stuart replied “My apologies I thought it was part of the new franchise of which you are in charge of.”
Of course, we are left wondering exactly what James Gunn thinks of Absolute Batman, and the logo being used. Absolute Batman #1 is out in November…
