DC Comics is launching a brand-new Red Hood ongoing series this September, and it’s bringing Jason Todd back to center stage, just not in Gotham.
Written by acclaimed author Gretchen Felker-Martin with art by Jeff Spokes, Red Hood #1 debuts September 10, 2025, under DC’s mature-readers “All In” label (Ages 17+). This isn’t your typical Bat-Family tale. Jason Todd has walked away from Gotham and from Batman. Now, he’s headed to New Angelique, a city steeped in corruption, bringing only the essentials: his suit, his bike, a relentless drive for justice, and a metal case packed with firearms and ammunition.
Considering Hush 2 is in the works and plans to cull a Robin or two, it should be obvious Jason will come out of it alive.
Felker-Martin describes the series as a brutal, emotional ride: “Jason’s on a mission through hell, chasing down a mysterious telepath in a city that’s rotting from within.”
Spokes adds, “This is raw and stripped-down storytelling—violent, gritty, and even a little sexy. Gretchen’s scripts feel like a fusion of pulp noir and superhero drama, all set against a moody, New Orleans-inspired backdrop.”
According to DC editor Arianna Turturro, this is the Jason Todd story fans have been waiting for: “It’s high-stakes, unapologetic, and fully in-continuity. Jason’s anger, isolation, and lethal sense of justice are all on full display. Yes, he’ll be killing people. A lot.”
The plot kicks off with Jason investigating a powered-up serial killer targeting police in New Angelique. As he digs deeper, he’s pulled into a dangerous conspiracy that threatens to consume the entire city.
But Jason’s not alone. Huntress (Helena Bertinelli) is on his trail. The big question is whether she’s here to stop him, or team up. As Turturro puts it, “These are two damaged people, both shaped by pain and violence, and when they collide, they could either help each other heal… or make things worse.”
Red Hood promises to be a raw, emotionally charged story about what happens when an outcast tries to take justice into his own hands. “Jason’s carving out his own path in a new city,” Turturro says. “And no, we’re not holding back.”
Red Hood #1 hits shelves and digital platforms on September 10, 2025, with preorders beginning June 20. The debut issue features a main cover by Jeff Spokes and variants from Jim Lee, Brian Bolland, Jae Lee, Kyuyong Eom, and Nick Robles. Starting with issue #2, Taurin Clarke will provide regular series covers.

For mature readers (Ages 17+), this is Jason Todd at his rawest—violent, vulnerable, and completely unfiltered.
