One of Amanda Waller’s greatest weapons is officially the Green Lantern Corps’ most important asset.

While the villainous Sorrow is plotting against the Green Lantern Corps from afar, the gleaming guardians of the DC Universe themselves are gathering together on their home world of Oa. There, the eponymous heroes of Green Lantern: Fractured Spectrum #1 use their combined might to reinstall the towering Central Power Battery where it can power Oa in its entirety. As astonishing as that is in itself, what stands out as even more surprising is the fact that the Green Lantern Corps has chosen Jadestone to serve as the stalwart protector of the Central Power Battery, especially considering it was only a few months ago that he was looking to destroy everything it represents.

The alien world known as Oa has been a part of the overarching Green Lantern mythos for decades, with its first appearance taking place in the pages of 1960’s Green Lantern #1 by John Broome and Gil Kane. Originally colonized by the denizens of the planet Maltus, who would eventually become the Guardians of the Universe, Oa serves as both the adoptive home and headquarters of every member of the Green Lantern Corps. While Oa has historically been presented as barren save for the Guardians’ personally crafted city, its terrain has been developed further and expanded upon in the years since its debut.

First glimpsed in 2024’s Free Comic Book Day 2024 Absolute Power Special Edition by Mark Waid and Mikel Janín, Jadestone was one of the seven advanced Amazo androids who were commissioned by Amanda Waller in the lead up to the events of Absolute Power. Like the other members of Waller’s Task Force VII, Jadestone was sent to target a specific subset of superheroes, specifically the members of the Green Lantern Corps. After stealing away the powers of the likes of Alan Scott, Jadestone became one of the most potent threats Waller had to offer, as well as one of the key elements in her ultimate downfall.

In stealing Alan Scott’s powers as the Green Lantern, which were derived from the mystical Starheart, Jadestone found itself imbued not just with the hero’s abilities, but his sense of duty and morality. This drove Jadestone to question Waller’s orders, not to mention her greater mission. Once Jadestone had broken free from Waller’s control and developed its own unique sense of self, it chose to help several heroes take refuge within the Tower of Fate before escaping the complete and total obliteraton at the hands of the Justice League that its fellow Amazos suffered.
