Warning! Contains spoilers for Outsiders #10!
Summary
Despite the Crisis-level event, major DC heroes like Batman and Wonder Woman are unaware and not responding.
Jakita Wagner’s manipulations culminate in a dangerous power to destroy the Multiverse, with Batwoman as the only hope.
The world of DC Comics is under threat — but somehow, only Batwoman has the knowledge and power to save the day. Crisis events are a major tradition in the DC Universe. They usually have far-reaching effects, from changing the status quo, the death of a beloved hero, to completely resetting the entire DCU. Every time a Crisis has happened, it’s gotten the attention of every major character in DC — except now.
The surprisingly dangerous Crisis unfolds in Outsiders #10 by Jackson Lanzing, Collin Kelly, and Robert Carey. In this story, Jakita Wagner — the Drummer and a Planetary refugee — has been plotting and manipulating events to give her the power to bring back her missing universe. This all started when Barry Allen caused Flashpoint, which destroyed the Wildstorm universe, and now all seemingly ends as Batwoman and the Carrier from the Wildstorm Universe fade away into nothing.
One of the few survivors of this universe was Jakita Wagner, and now she’s doing everything she can to bring her friends from her universe back, even if it means destroying everything else in the DC Multiverse. This may seem like a massive threat to the entire DCU, and it is, but surprisingly, no one seems to be aware of it except for the Outsiders.
Batwoman Abandons Her Team to Work with DC’s Most Underrated Legacy
Batwoman has been trying to solve DC’s darkest mysteries with her current team, but now she’s leaving for a new adventure on her own with an old hero.
Planetary’s Jakita Wagner Has Become a Multiversal Threat
And Only Batwoman Can Stop Her
There have been plenty of Multiverse-threatening villains in the past. The Justice League has gone up against Pariah, Anti-Monitor, Perpetua, and the Batman Who Laughs. Usually, when the universe or multiverse is under threat, the Justice League is the first one on the scene. But in this situation, no one seems to be aware of what’s happening in the slightest. Jakita literally just pulled the trigger on a multiversal gun and seemingly obliterated everything, and the only person who has a chance at stopping her is Batwoman.
There’s no doubt that there will be some trick that allows Batwoman to undo everything that Jakita has nearly destroyed.
Throughout this entire series, Batwoman has been exploring the far reaches of the DC Universe that people often don’t care to look into. Despite the horrors she’s seen, nothing has changed her mind about being a hero. Luke, on the other hand, after having a terrifying encounter with a corrupted version of Duke Thomas, seems to be doubting his place in the universe. When confronted by Jakita, he ultimately lets her pull the trigger, with only Batwoman wanting to stop her. While all hope seems lost now, there’s no doubt that there will be some trick that allows Batwoman to undo everything that Jakita has nearly destroyed.
This story ends with the next issue,
Outsiders
#11 by Jackson Lanzing, Collin Kelly, and Robert Carey, which is available September 11th, 2024 from DC Comics.
Jakita Wagner’s Powers Are More Dangerous Than Anyone Thought
Will the DC Universe Survive?
Jakita played the long game, remaining mysterious and barely helping her teammates unless she absolutely had to. She allowed Luke and Kate to gather all the resources she needed before taking them for herself. Now, she has all the power at her fingertips to bring about the end of the Multiverse. Despite this being a Crisis-level event, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman aren’t coming to the rescue this time. The Justice League are disbanded, and no one knows this disaster is happening. The only person who can save the DC Comics multiverse now is Batwoman.

DC Universe
The DC Universe is one of the biggest comic book franchises and often competes with Marvel. DC Comics started as National Allied Publications, founded by Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson in 1935. Since then, the franchise has exploded with thousands of comic books, movies, TV shows, and video games. 2013 marked the beginning of the most recent iteration of the superheroes, with Zack Snyder introducing Henry Cavill as Superman. After several movies with mixed reviews, DC underwent a soft reboot under the helm of James Gunn and Peter Safran.
