According to reports out of San Diego Comic-Con 2024, DC’s World’s Finest creative team will be taking on a brand new Justice League title. During their Absolute Power panel (Room 6DE), comic book writer Mark Waid and artist Dan Mora explain their plans after Absolute Power. Chief among them, is the announcement of a new Justice League in Justice League Unlimited.

The Watch Begins Again

This new series follows the all-new line wide All-In initiative at DC Comics. With thanks to Ryan Sonneville, Collier Jennings, and David Brooke at AIPT, we understand that fans at SDCC got to see a sneak peak of the upcoming roster. Among the classic trinity of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, the team will feature several surprise powerhouses. Including the Flash, Martian Manhunter, and Atom, the team will also seemingly induct Star Sapphire, Captain Atom, Black Lighting into the main squad! Not to mention, the images coming out of the convention confirm the return of The Watchtower.

Famously, the Justice League have been inactive for quite a while. Following Joshua Williamson’s Death Of The Justice League and Dark Crisis, Nightwing’s Titans have taken over as DC’s premier super team. Additionally, their Watchtower command center has gone largely unused as well. Although, it infamously makes an appearance as a brief sanctuary for Batman in issue #129 before re-entering earth’s orbit with underwear on his face an issue later. Notably, Dan Mora’s illustrations depict the new Watchtower as a far more massive ring shaped space station in the sky. Whether this foreshadows or implies anything about the story is yet unknown.

Nonetheless, Waid is quoted in describing Justice League Unlimited as “Every superhero you’ve ever wanted to see.” Incidentally, a key component of the series’ namesake was the use of a massive roster in the animated show. Furthermore, IGN elaborates that heroes will cycle in and out of the book during the run. The only additional confirmation, is that Darkseid will serve as the overarching series antagonist. That is to say, Darkseid is reportedly leading the All-In initiative in both the main continuity and the previously announced Absolute universe. Leave your thoughts and opinions in the comment section. As soon as more information is readily available from SDCC, we will be sure to provide follow-ups.
