There have been a plethora of Batman live-action films throughout DC history, dating all the way back to the 1940s. In the twenty-first century alone, we had Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Night Trilogy, Zack Snyder’s Justice League version of Batman, and a more comic-accurate Batman portrayed by Robert Pattinson and directed by Matt Reeves.
As the first installment in Matt Reeves’ The Batman franchise, the film received a lot of attention and went on to become one of the best Batman films in history. Having said that, many fans are already looking forward to the sequel, which is set to be released in 2025. While the film is still a long away from hitting the big screen, new rumors regarding the potential villain for the sequel are surfacing on the internet
Who Is the Newly Rumored Villain in The Batman Part II?
Following the conclusion of The Batman, there was a tease of the Joker, played by Barry Keoghan, and eventually, a deleted scene was also released, causing quite a bit of discussion among the fan communities on how Joker may potentially be the villain in Matt Reeves’ sequel. However, that was short-lived, and fans soon began to focus on other potential villains, such as Clayface, Mr. Freeze, and even The Court of Owls.
While many fans hoped to see these characters make their live-action debut, a recent rumor suggests that Hush could be the main villain in The Batman Part II. The rumor started with The Hot Mic with Jeff Sneider and John Rocha on YouTube when the former initiated a conversation about the sequel film. Perhaps the exact words of Jeff Sneider can provide you with more insight.
“Is there a rumor that the villain is going to be Hush? Maybe. Maybe that rumor exists. But I don’t know if that is accurate in the least. I don’t know if someone else put it out there. I have no idea, but I have heard whispers of a Hush. “
While Sneider authenticates that he merely heard whispers and didn’t deny the possibility of Hush being the main antagonist of The Batman Part II, the final decision has yet to be made because the sequel’s script was still unfinished prior to the writers’ strike. Assuming Hush is the villain writers intend to feature in the next film, how does he fit into the universe?

How Would Hush Fit Into The Batman Part II?
In the comics, Hush was a childhood friend of Bruce Wayne who went by the name Thomas Elliot. While Bruce went on a path to become the guardian of Gotham City, Thomas opted for the opposite route, even going so far as trying to kill his own parents in the hopes of inheriting their fortune. With that out of the way, The Batman film already teased Hush as a possible antagonist for the sequel.
During the flashback sequences, a prominent reporter named Edward Elliot was hell-bent on revealing Wayne’s family’s secrets to the public. However, before that could happen, Thomas Wayne reached out to Carmine Falcone to inspire dread within the reporter.
Ultimately, it resulted in the death of Edward Elliot, and seeing as he is Thomas Elliot’s father, it’s clear how Hush could be set up for the next film. In fact, The Batman revealed another significant clue during the end credits when Batman solves the riddles provided by The Riddler, which leads to footage showcasing Thomas Wayne’s campaign with the word “Hush!” written on it.
Based on all these implications, it appears that The Batman Part II could be heading down the path of a retribution story by introducing Hush to live-action for the first time. This decision could actually benefit the sequel because, given Hush’s ingenuity and ruthlessness, the film has the potential to be even darker than the first, which is precisely what fans desire.
Who Else Might Play a Villain in Matt Reeves’ The Batman Sequel?
While Hush is an excellent choice for the main antagonist, having multiple enemies would seem more challenging to the Dark Knight, especially if it is someone like Killer Croc. Given the finale of the prequel, in which the entire Gotham City was flooded as a result of The Riddler’s scheme, is there any better time to introduce Killer Croc? The fact that Killer Croc isn’t a villain on the level of Hush and Joker takes precedence over the fact that he would be a perfect candidate for the secondary antagonist.

Killer Croc, also known as Waylon Jones, is a mobster born with a rare mutation that gave his skin a reptile-like appearance, leading to the years of abuse that fueled his hatred for humanity. Considering Gotham City’s wretched state following the floods, Killer Croc would only see it as an opportunity to torment the inhabitants, making him a feared opponent of Batman, even more so than Hush.
While nothing has been confirmed yet, we can only wait for more updates from the director Matt Reeves, possibly a first look at Hush or any other antagonist for that matter. The Batman Part II is expected to be released in October 2025.
