The following contains major spoilers for Green Lantern #19, on sale now from DC Comics.

The DC Universe just met a whole new kind of time-traveller, and she could be just what the Green Lantern Corps so desperately need right now.

While Hal Jordan is preparing to join the hunt for Sorrow and his stolen Book of Oa in the pages of Green Lantern #19, Kyle Rayner is busy slinking through the Green Lantern Armory on Oa in the hopes of catching a brazen thief in the act. Unfortunately for Odyssey, Kyle is capable of doing just that, though not before he lets the afformentioned Time Bandit suit up for the task ahead. As it turns out, Kyle has no intention of imprisoning Odyssey for her crimes, at least not when she could be such a big help in saving the entire universe from the efforts of Sorrow and his infernal partner in crime, Luciphage.

Green Lantern #19 marks the debut of Odyssey the Time Bandit, and as such fans don’t have much to go on as of now when it comes to figuring her out as a character. Although it is clear she was imprisoned by the Guardians of the Universe, presumably for stealing away with valuable and dangerous artifacts, Odyssey herself doesn’t seem intent on causing any trouble. If anything, she seems to be trying to avoid it entirely, as she quicly acquiesces to Kyle’s request for help when threatened with being locked away once more until another mysterious time traveller can come to take her wherever it is she is “supposed” to be.

When Nathan Broome was introduced in the pages of 2023’s Green Lantern #2 by Jeremy Adams and Xermanico, he was a relatively high-level employee at Ferris Aircraft. More importantly, Nathan was the fiancee of none other than Carol Ferris, which whom he shared a genuinely loving relationship. Tragically, the call of the cosmos, or rather the Star Sapphire Corps, and her love for Hal Jordan were enough to spell the end of Carol’s relationship with Nathan, which in turn drove him into such a deep grief that he was transformed into the villainous Sorrow via a fractured piece of the Emotional Electromagnetic Spectrum.

DC Just Gave the Absolute Treatment One of the Publisher’s Scariest Characters

One of the most underrated and infrequently seen gods in the DC Universe has just been reimagined, and she is absolutely terrifying.

The villainous cosmic energy vampire known as Luciphage, formerly Starbreaker, has been a part of the overarching DC Comics mythos since his first appearance in the opening story from 1972’s Justice League of America #96, “Meet the Cosmic Vampire!” by Mike Freidrich and Dick Dillin. A powerful entity who feeds upon the energies of various planets and stars, Luciphage has been counted among the most capable threats that the heroes of the DC Universe have ever faced. Despite his overwhelming power, Luciphage has only made a handful of appearances over the years, though that may change soon with the introduction of his very own Starbreaker Corps.
