DC Deck Building Game creators Cryptozoic have announced the Arkham Asylum expansion, which will see the addition of iconic villains Joker and Harley Quinn to the collectible card game. The project is live on Kickstarter and has already far surpassed its minimum funding goal.

Launched on the 10th of September, Cryptozoics latest Kickstarter funding round for DC Deck Building Game: Arkham Asylum has already surpassed its minimum $100,000 goal, reaching $251,854 at the time of writing. The long-running deck-building game expands by unleashing some of the most iconic villains from Batman’s rogues’ gallery, adding fan-favorites like Harley Quinn, Two-Face, Riddler and the clown prince of crime, The Joker. The release will feature two covers: a standard DC villains cover featuring art by Philip Tan and an exclusive cover graced by The Joker and Harley Quinn as illustrated by Matteo Scalera.

One of the most powerful Batman villains of all time lands himself right in the middle of a budding new Gotham City mystery.

Backers will also have the option of two travel boxes representing the opposing sides of justice in Gotham. A Batman travel box and a Kickstarter-exclusive Joker Edition will be available. Both travel boxes are crafted to fit 500 cards comfortably and can be unfolded to create a play mat. The campaign also features the introduction of the 2DZ acrylic standees, which feature characters from the DC Deck-Building Game: Rebirth series, such as Wonder Woman, Zatanna, Green Arrow and Darkseid.

Backers will also have the option to purchase five new expansion packs that cover a wide breadth of the DC Comics universe. Expansion packs available will be One-Shot Pack 3: Adams Vengence, focusing on the world of Shazam!, and tasks players with teaming up with the Justice League to defeat Black Adam. Based on the 70s cartoon classic, the Super Friends Expansion Pack adds 13 retro superheroes and villains to the game’s vast roster and includes a collectible box. Crossover Pack 11: Dark Knights Rising celebrates the iconic Batman: The Man Who Laughs series, and the last offering, Crisis Expansion Pack 5: Death Metal, is a co-op experience where players confront the DC universe’s many Crisis Events.

DC Comics promotes its upcoming All-In initiative by unveiling brand-new Justice League membership cards.

Shahriar Fouladi, Cryptozoic’s Vice President of Product Development & Marketing, shared in a statement that “The DC Deck-Building Game community is at the center of what we do, and we can’t wait to spend another 30 days sharing our love of the DC universe and the series of games,” adding “We chose Arkham Asylum as the theme of the latest base set because, like most fans, we love Batman’s Rogues Gallery, and we wanted to design a game that puts them front and center.” While the project is fully funded, those interested can still get involved before the campaign ends on October 3.
