DC Studios and Warner Bros Pictures Animation are collaborating for the first time on a new project, which tells the origin story of the former’s comic book characters Jason Todd and Dick Grayson, also known as the Robins. The announcement comes shortly after the release of the show The Penguin, starring Colin Farrell in the titular role, on Max and JioCinema. The creators of a New Orleans-based studio named Swaybox, namely Arthur Mintz and Theresa Andersson, are making the film with a piece of technology, called “Momo animation,” blending CGI animation, live-action performance, and practical stop-motion elements to make the film. Mintz is directing the film, based on the DC Comics characters, from a Matthew Aldrich screenplay.

Note that the story has noting to do with Matt Reeves’ The Penguinand Batman canon. Producers include James Gunn and Peter Safran of DC Studios, Andersson of Swaybox Studios, and Reeves of 6th and Idaho Productions.

“I have wanted to make a film with Arthur and Swaybox for many years, and for that film to be Dynamic Duo, an incredibly special and unique Batman and Robin story for families, is a dream,” stated Reeves.
