DC’s Absolute Universe has dominated social conversation since its launch late last year. Despite one of the least engaging titles of the entire line, Absolute Superman is still putting up solid sales numbers. Enough so, the Jason Aaron and Rafa Sandoval story is the best-selling comic of the week three months into its run.
According to sales numbers captured by Bleeding Cool, Absolute Superman #3 was the top-selling comic of last week, beating out a handful of Marvel stalwarts to capture the weekly crown. Using data obtained from a series of 100 comic stores, Absolute Superman #3 bested the launches of Deadpool/Wolverine and Sam Wilson: Captain America, Ultimates #8, The Avengers #22, and Batman #156. When it comes to the Big Two, Marvel dominated the Top 10 with just Absolute Superman and Batman being the lone DC titles on the list.

As is the norm with Absolute titles, Absolute Superman has featured a stunning reimagination of the Last Son of Krypton, one that’s been divisive among fans and critics alike. According to ComicBook Round Up, the industry’s equivalency of Rotten Tomatoes, Absolute Superman has the lowest rating of the three ongoing Absolute books, tallying an 8.9 score from the comic critics listed on the website; Absolute Batman and Absolute Wonder Woman have 9.0 scores.

It’s a different story when it comes to the audience scores, however, with Absolute Superman (8.9) slightly edging out both Batman and Wonder Woman, each with 8.8 scores as of this writing. All that said, the trio of books are largely the most popular comics available given the fresh, unique takes available on three of the biggest superhero names ever created.
Absolute Superman #3 (and second printings of the first two issues) are now available wherever comics are sold. If you’re looking for your nearest local comic shop, use the Comic Shop Locator here.
