For several years now, several TV shows and movies have been widely known to be comic book adaptations. Plenty of projects are lined up from Marvel and DC in 2024, making it an eventful year for comic book adaptations.

By the end of 2024, most comic books will be turned into feature films and TV shows on multiple platforms. Film and other production companies are also borrowing comic book ideas, which has led to big successes recently.

While some of the projects are animated series, there will still be some action-packed films and live-action comic book series for fans of superhero stories in 2024. In this article, we shall look into every film and TV show adapted from a comic book for 2024.

10) Deadpool & Wolverine

Deadpool & Wolverine is an American superhero film based on a Marvel comic book. The film is a sequel to the characters Deadpool and Wolverine. It is the 43rd installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In this comic book adaptation, Wade Wilson is back as the Deadpool we know, but this time he has to save his home planet. He tries to convince Wolverine, who reluctantly joins him.

The film is written by Shawn Levy, with help from Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells. It stars Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, with a supporting cast including Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Aaron Stanford, and Matthew Macfadyen.

9) Joker: Folie à Deux

Joker: Folie à Deux is a 2024 musical psychological thriller directed by Todd Phillips. This film is a screenplay Todd co-wrote with Scott Silver. It is based on a DC comic book character and is a sequel to the 2019 film Joker. The film is a Warner Bros. Pictures production.

The plot of the second installment picks up where the first left off, dealing with the aftermath of his latest killing spree, which included celebrity presenter Murray Franklin and his colleague Randall.

Once again, Joaquin Phoenix stars as Arthur Fleck. Lady Gaga takes on the role of his love interest Lee Quinzel. Zazie Beetz and Leigh Gill will reprise their roles from the first film. Joining the cast this time around are Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Steve Coogan, and Harry Lawtey.

8) Batman: Caped Crusader

Batman: The Caped Crusader is an animated television series based on the DC comic character. The animated series is produced by Bruce Timm and created by Bad Robot Productions in association with Warner Bros. Animation.

The series debuted on Amazon Prime Video in August 2024. It’s a take on the early life of Bruce Wayne as a young Caped Crusader just beginning his fight against crime in Gotham City, inspired by some of the older Batman stories.

7) The Penguin

The Penguin is an HBO drama crime series, based on the DC Comics character of the same name. And thus, from the film The Batman (2022), comes the series, focusing on how the Penguin gains power inside the crime world of Gotham City.

HBO has co-produced the series with Warner Bros. Television. The series was made available on HBO on September 19, 2024.

Colin Farrell plays the Penguin in this series. Other actors in this series include Cristin Milioti, Rhenzy Feliz, Deirdre O’Connell, Clancy Brown, Carmen Ejogo, Michael Zegen, Berto Colón, Scott Cohen, and others.

6) Kite Man: Hell Yeah!

Kite Man: Hell Yeah! is a new animated comedy series that is based on the DC comic book character Kite Man.

The animation follows his life and that of his girlfriend, Golden Glider, as they co-own and manage Noonan’s, a local bar. Kite Man is voiced by Matt Oberg, Stephanie Hsu, and James Adomian. This series serves as a spin-off of Harley Quinn, where Kite Man was one of the main characters.

Kite Man: Hell Yeah! premiered on Prime Video on July 18, 2024.

5) Agatha All Along

Agatha All Along is created by Jac Schaeffer for Disney+. The series is based on the Marvel Comic book character Agatha Harkness.

In Agatha All Along, Agatha Harkness finds herself accompanied by a suspicious goth teen who helps her break free from a twisted spell. Her curiosity is ignited when he begs her to accompany him on the legendary Witches’ Way, a magical gauntlet of trials that, if survived, will reward a witch with what she’s missing.

Together, Agatha and this mysterious teenager rally a desperate coven and set off down, down, down The Road.

This series is a WandaVision spin-off and the 11th TV series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe from Marvel Studios. Kathryn Hahn reprises her role as Agatha Harkness from WandaVision.

4) Hit-Monkey (Season 2)

Hit-Monkey is an American animated television series for Hulu, based on the Marvel Comic book character. The series premiered on Hulu on July 15, 2024.

Hit-Monkey is about Monkey, who is trying to put his violent past behind him. Meanwhile, Bryce tries to clean up the mess he made in the past, but at a cost. The cast of Hit-Monkey includes Olivia Munn, Jason Sudeikis, Ally Maki, and Fred Tatasciore. Leslie Jones is one of the newcomers joining the cast for this season.

3) Creature Commandos

Creature Commandos is a new animated TV series based on a DC Comic book. The series is produced by DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation, and it will be the first direct-to-TV show from the DC Universe.

The series is about a black ops team of monsters assembled by Amanda Waller. This series will bring on some of the worst monsters ever seen.

The main cast of this series includes Steve Agee, Maria Bakalova, Anya Chalotra, Zoë Chao, Frank Grillo, Sean Gunn, David Harbour, Alan Tudyk, Indira Varma and Viola Davis.

2) Venom: The Last Dance

Venom: The Last Dance is the latest American superhero film with the Marvel character Venom. It is the next installment for Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage. This series marks the fifth movie for the Spider-Man Universe. Kelly Marcel is the writer and director of this film.

In Venom: The Last Dance, Eddie, and Venom are wedged between a hole in the ground. They are hunted by people from both of their worlds, so they can’t run. This compels them to make pretty difficult choices to end the story of Eddie and Venom.

The film stars Tom Hardy, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Stephen Graham, Peggy Lu, and Alanna Ubach.

1) Kraven the Hunter

Kraven the Hunter is the latest American superhero film that offers a fresh look at the Marvel Comic book character Kraven. It is the sixth film in the SSU series. The film follows Kraven’s very difficult relationship with his tough father, Nikolai Kravinoff. This leads him on a path of revenge with serious consequences. He wants to be the best hunter and one of the most feared men on earth.

The casting of Kraven the Hunter sees Aaron Taylor-Johnson star as Kraven alongside Ariana DeBose, Fred Hechinger, Alessandro Nivola, Christopher Abbott, and Russell Crowe.
