A preview of the upcoming Image Comics title, Monkey Meat: Summer Batch, which parodies one of DC Comics’ most popular Batman storylines, has been unveiled. Monkey Meat: Summer Batch #1 will hit comic shelves on March 5.

The Image Comics preview arrives via Bleeding Cool and, in one panel, reveals the character Monkey Girl who “despite years as a faithful sidekick, is mostly remembered for the infamous story where their worst enemy savagely killed her, and she resurrected traumatized.” Monkey Girl in the Monkey Meat: Summer Batch story realizes she isn’t real and resolves to inspire kids, only to eventually discover readers had ultimately decided she would die through a publisher-organized vote. Monkey Girl’s fate mirrors Jason Todd’s in the Death in the Family Batman storyline, for which DC Comics had fans call in to vote if the second Robin would live or die. The preview also pokes fun at DC’s refusal to let showrunners depict Batman going down on Catwoman in the third season of the fan-favorite adult animated series Harley Quinn.
