MANILA, Philippines – “Krypto, take us home.”
DC officially released the sneak peek for the upcoming superhero film Superman on Friday, April 4.
The new DC film stars David Corenswet as the titular Superman-slash-Clark Kent, with his classic looks reminiscent of Henry Cavill and the late Christopher Reeve, who died in 2004. Starring alongside Corenswet are Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.
The film also stars Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio, María Gabriela de Faría, Wendell Pierce, Alan Tudyk, Pruitt Taylor Vince, and Neva Howell.
The five-minute preview features Superman’s iconic Fortress of Solitude, his pet dog Krypto, and the healing process he undergoes using the sun’s rays — all canon and from the DC comic books created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.
The first four minutes of the sneak peek show an overexcited Krypto jumping all over a badly injured Superman, not realizing his owner is in severe pain. The last minute blends epic action and heart in a sequence loyal to the comics.
Superman (2025) is the first installment of writer-director James Gunn’s (Guardians of the Galaxy) reboot of the Superman and DC Universe movie franchise. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Gunn’s film is a critical make-or-break for the studio as the release is meant to jumpstart an all-new batch of superhero titles on a largely clean slate.
Superman is executive produced by Nikolas Korda, Chantal Nong Vo, and Lars Winther. Gunn is joined by frequent collaborators Henry Braham (director of photography), Beth Mickle (production designer), Judianna Makovsky (costume designer), and John Murphy (composer).
