What Chip Zdarsky has left in Batman #157 for Jim Lee and Jeph Loeb on Batman #158 in seven weeks time (Spoilers)

Chip Zdarsky’s Batman #157 ends his run with Gotham in turmoil and Jim Gordon as an unexpected villain.
Vandal Savage is now Gotham’s police commissioner with ties to the Court of Owls, setting the stage for chaos.
Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee are taking over Batman for issue #158, launching the long-awaited Hush 2 storyline.
Batman #157 concludes with intense action, leaving Gotham’s fate uncertain for the new creators ahead.

Batman #157 by Chip Zdarsky, Jorge Jimenez and Tony S Daniels, the final issue of their run on the character, before Jim Lee and Jeph Loeb take over next month for Batman #158, the first chapter of Batman: Hush 2, or H2SH. But how will he leave the Batman Gotham landscape that has seen Mayor Nakano shot and killed by private detective Jim Gordon, Vandal Savage as police commissioner and a stooge of the Court Of Owls being pushed in as Gotham mayor?

Well, Batman does crash a plane in Gotham…

… even if Gotham Police Commissioner Vandal Savage wants to let Batman cause as much damage and death as possible. Is this enough to take him down? No.

Even if the rebellious crowd who supported Commander Star, the KGBeast doing full counter-programming propaganda is taken down. But what of Jim Gordon?

Seems they’ll take anyone on the police force of Gotham, even those who have just murdered their own mayor, even if they were (mostly under mind control at the time.) so Hush 2 will bring us Jim Gordon as a rookie cop, Savage still as police commissioner, but everything and everyone else back in their toy box…  Batman #157 by Chip Zdarsky, Jorge Jimenez and Tony S Daniels is published today and Batman #158 by Jim Lee and Jeph Loeb is published in seven weeks time on the 26th of March, 2025.
