WARNING: Contains Potential Spoilers for Wonder Woman #15!
Wonder Woman has undergone one of the most profound transformations in her history, marked by the death of her iconic love, Steve Trevor, and the ‘birth’ of their daughter, Elizabeth “Lizzie” Marston Prince. With these monumental shifts comes a powerful new costume, symbolizing Diana’s evolution from a fierce superhero to a mother and general.
This shift to a more strategic, leadership-focused role feels distinct for her character, offering a welcome and intriguing change.
Wonder Woman #15, by Tom King, Daniel Sampere, Tomeu Morey, and Clayton Cowles, plunges directly into the aftermath of Steve’s death and Lizzie’s birth, showcasing Diana embracing her new role as a mother. In a touching moment, she comforts her crying infant daughter by singing a modified version of the familiar “Five Little Monkeys” nursery rhyme, changing it to “Five Little Princesses.”
King masterfully alternates between this intimate lullaby and the action-packed narrative, where Cheetah and Wonder Girls Cassie Sandsmark, Yara Flor, and Donna Troy wage battle against the Sovereign, destroying his most valuable assets. However, the issue’s final panel stands out amidst all the action, revealing Diana in a stunning white dress.

Despite Diana being heavily featured throughout the issue, singing her remixed version of Five Little Monkeys to the crying Lizzie, fans don’t get a clear view of the Amazon Warrior until the very end. It isn’t until the final panel that readers finally see what Diana is wearing in this issue, and it couldn’t be more different from her typical Wonder Woman costume. Replacing the usual red, blue, and gold warrior outfit is a loose, flowing white dress. However, Diana’s signature red-star tiara and Bracelets of Submission remain as part of the ensemble.
Diana’s dress resembles a chiton, a traditional garment worn by women in ancient Greece. As a long, ankle-reaching tunic made of linen, it was often accessorized with jewelry at the neckline, such as a collar piece. In Diana’s case, she wears a golden, collar-like neckpiece that fastens the dress at her neck. This necklace is particularly striking, featuring her iconic double “W” insignia, giving the otherwise simple outfit a distinct Wonder Woman twist. Additionally, Diana wears a golden arm cuff, completing the look. While this outfit marks a significant departure from Wonder Woman’s usual attire, it also serves as a powerful visual marker of Diana’s transition into motherhood.
I Finally Understand Why Wonder Woman’s Best Love Interest Isn’t Superman (Despite 83 Years Of “Will They/Won’t They”)
Sorry, Superman, but thanks to Tom King and Daniel Sampere, Steve Trevor is now the only love interest I will accept for Wonder Woman

One of the biggest questions following the end of Wonder Woman #14 was how Diana’s newfound motherhood would impact her heroics. Issue #15 begins to offer fans the first glimpse of an answer. First and foremost, it’s clear that Diana intends to raise Lizzie herself. She will not pass the responsibility of motherhood onto others, even though it would be understandable given that she is in the midst of fighting a war that will impact not only her future but the future of all Amazons. Hence, it’s evident that Wonder Woman will fully and happily embrace her new role as a mother.
That said, Wonder Woman #15 also makes it clear that Diana won’t shy away from her battle against the Sovereign. Instead of retreating from the fight, she takes a more creative approach, enlisting the help of her Amazon sisters—Yara, Donna, and Cassie—as well as Cheetah to attack the Sovereign. In doing so, Diana adopts the role of general rather than soldier. While Wonder Woman has often taken on leadership positions, she has always been in the thick of the action as well. This shift to a more strategic, leadership-focused role feels distinct for her character, offering a welcome and intriguing change.

Another notable aspect of Diana’s new outfit reveal is that she appears to be sitting on a throne, giving her a distinctly queenly appearance. This imagery raises the question of when she will claim the title of Queen of the Amazons, following in her mother’s footsteps. While Nubia is currently the Queen of Themyscira, fans already know that Diana will eventually take over. This glimpse into the future was first revealed in King’s companion Trinity series, which confirmed that Diana will one day become queen. With this confirmation, the only remaining question is when, and it seems Wonder Woman fans will be getting an answer sooner rather than later.
Wonder Woman #15 is available now from DC Comics!
